Suicidal Knight by Corbak
Hey everyone! We finished our LD jam game (we were 2), what a ludum dare! Anyway let me explain how it works!
In Suicidal Knight, you play a brave knight who isn't affraid to make sacrifices to reach the final boss! You will have to fight multiple waves of enemies, but between each wave, you will have to sacrifice something.
Will you reach the final boss in one piece?
WASD (or ZQSD): to move
left-click: to attack (you can hold it)
scroll wheel: to chose between the swrod and the bow
esc: to get back to menu
PS: We are sorry for not having time to implement any gamification or rewards upon finishing the game. Didn't have time to make that. Our apologies for that.

good game, hard, those choices are sometimes like 1 less life OR 1 less life :) The art is nice.
sometimes it felt like my controls were stuck - character was running into some direction and I could steer him up and down but couldn't stop
@mateusboga Thank you for your kind words. We ran out of time so we putted everything we could. We had so many issues with internet, discord, unity xD oh well !
As for the combat itself, I kind of wish I could swing my sword in any direction while I'm moving. As it is now, it pretty difficult (or impossible?) to swing at an incoming swarm of enemies without taking a lot of damage from having to stop, turn around, and swing at a slow rate.
The sacrifice mechanic is pretty neat, though! It gives it almost a roughlite feel, but with the progression reversed. I also like the variety of enemy AI as well to shake things up. Pretty ambitious to make in such a short amount of time!
@coleslaughter Thanks for your feedback, we thought about swinging the sword in all directions, but it wasn't very consistent with the look of the game, so we decided to keep it in 2 directions instead. The game is meant to be difficult so that you really think about what to sacrifice ;-)
@oceanosaurus Yeah I tried your game it's similar in the form. So many games looks similar but it is always cool to see how people made them different :) Thank you for your kind words by the way
@sashbros you are being too nice :) why need all the caps? :P Thank you anyway :)
Good job ;)
Btw it's ok you sacrificed rewards :D
I'm a little bit disappointed with the combat. The AI's strategy is just to approach you. If you can get them all on one side, wait for them to come to you and spam click, they'll walk into your sword and die. Arrows don't do enough damage, and they're more of a hindrance against the projectile enemies because of how far back they push them.
I love the Flash art style. It reminds me of classic Binding of Isaac.
Here's my play: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/344727890?t=02h36m28s
Anyways, thanks for making a cool entry!
I don't understand why the bow has only 5 arrows though. The sword is much better just because of that.
Had fun, like the look of the game. Good job!
@thorpalsson thank you for your kind comment :)
@cornel I ee what you did there :D thank you
@finn-truman thanks for the feedback. We still have many things to learn to get a game jam right but getting there slowly slowly, it's really nice and cool about what you came up with, so thank you for that.
@vodish Did you finished the dungeon wholy naked? :P
@ursagames well thanks to you for streaming! :)
@mrjoshuamclean thank you, will take into account your feedback for future dev :)
@akusan Thank you for your kind words :) We putted an angel for the irony :P
@gerardb Thanks a bunch! Actually each wave your arrows come back, but I agree with you the bow is not that strong, misses some balance here and there.
@shubart thanks to you :)
@paulhocker That's really nice of you, thanks for your kind words :)
@kobeb Thanks kobeb :)
@syrok thank you for that :)
@astericon Thanks, would been cool if we could implemented other ideas yes of course! :)
I would really like to see some kind of expansion on this concept. :D
The mechanics worked well and the choices were integrated smoothly. I think my problem was that the cursor for my mouse was invisible, so it was a little hard to tell what I was clicking until after it was selected (I played the itch.io version).
@ianlux Thank you for tyour kind words :)
@dk5000p Thank you, we could have had the choice rendomized a little better with more power-downs yea
@antt5053 thank you for your words :)
@hi-im-greg Thanks for your feedback, that is nice :)
@easy82 thanks for your feedback, it could have been more balanced yes :)
@toonteamj Thank you, It happened to one of the streamers because he used a dual screen. But i'm not sure if that's the real problem, I will get to see what is it.
Then, after I gave up my eyes, for the first wave, it blocked out the UI so I had no idea how much health I had. Eventually I think the data came back on subsequent waves, but was still a bit jarring.
Otherwise, fun game.
@falak Thank you :)
@farsdan It has teeth! Teeth!
@acaral Thanks a bunch! :)
@daniel-abeleira Thank you very much :)
