Happy Town by Alegz

[raw]
made by Alegz for LD 41 (JAM)

In an isolated part of town all of the cars are feeling down, your job is to bring happiness to them by solving little puzzles(a couple of puzzles to be more precise).

Just in case the idea isn't too clear, it's a racing/ puzzle game except i didn't manage to properly implement puzzles and the only racing related thing the game has is a car.

This was my first Ludum Dare I and had a lot of fun participating in it, I can only hope this game is at least a little enjoyable.

WS - Accelerate forward/ backward // AD - Steer car // Space - Brake // Esc - Exit Game

Game was made in Unity 5.6.5f1, models in blender and the sounds were recorded by a smartphone :P and edited in audacity. Font taken from https://fontlibrary.org/pt/font/hussar-print screenshot1.png

The visuals in this game are really cute! I love the lowpoly graphics and the color choices work excellently. I also love the way the cars expression changes when you bump into a wall. I can see some neat ideas starting to emerge for puzzles and the racing gameplay merged with them really well. This is a really good effort, especially for you first ludum dare!

This is cute! I love the art style. Not entirely sure I got what was going on - I grabbed an apple more or less by accident, then got in the way of another car until the meter on top of it filled. The idea seems like it has some fun potential. Nice job.

I like the aesthetic of the game, and it's kinda fun. Good job! Could use some music and some sounds to clarify that what you're doing is good. Also, don't EVER make a progress bar red unless it's a bad thing you're doing.

Good job, and good luck!

@Shugor41 I probably should have spent less time making the game look pretty and implementing more puzzels but at least the visuals payed off.

@mahalis The ideia was you'd have to follow the driving car to make it happy, but the way i coded ended up with this bug.

@notpresident35 If you look really closely the car's eyebrowns start rising as it gets happy but since it's very subtle and most of the time you're not looking into the car's face it's hard to notice it. Will definitely add more feedback to what you're doing next jam.

Thank you all for playing my game
