Science Vs. Flowers by RootLM

[raw]
made by RootLM for LD 42 (JAM)

UPDATE:Ok the online should actually work now. Hopefully.

In this game you can take control of either a scientist or a robot to fend off a horde of evil plants attacking you! Be sure to kill them fast, however, or they will take your rooms if you let them live for too long!

Choose between the scientist or the robot to fend off the petaled patriarchy! The scientist has less firepower than the robot, but he can heal other players. The robot has a rapid fire machine gun, but he blows himself back with the force of it!

CONTROLS: arrow keys for movement/menu selection, Z for menu confirmation/jumping, X for shooting

In order to host you must port forward port 5029 UDP

The controls are a bit strange. In the future you might want to consider making WASD / SPACE controls for movement. The music is also super loud.

audio and graphics are good. However, the controls are a bit too hard to use. WASD for movement, space for jump would be much nicer. Also took longer than I like to admit to get through the UI. Using Z as an activation key rather than enter is strange.

Control buttons seem fine to me. Though the actual movement is very slippery. I found this game very hard, but I really like the way you limit space. Giving the player time to try and recover the zone before it is lost to the flowers felt superb. Excellent work!

I like the controls because i'm used to cuphead and classic 2d rpg games but the movements were quite not refined. And the level design was also a bit rough. Also the game style is great because i'm a fan of pixelated, old school games. Like the concept and features in this game.

I have the same opinion as above users. It is better to make players able to customize the control buttons to make the game easier to play. Slippery movement is actually good to make the gameplay harder. I love the idea of the gameplay, the graphic as well as the music are pretty good! Especially, the online function is great to play with friends. Congrats!
