Post-LD HTML5 Version Here w/ bugfixes+leaderboard

NOTE: I released an updated HTML5 build because the last one I uploaded had a game breaking bug due to not being able to right-click in the browser+some other minor stuff. I also threw in a quick leaderboard in the gameover screen. The original Windows LD version is still available for download on the itch.io page and Github repo (as source).

This is a mashup between the "stealth" and "bullet hell" genres!

To be completely honest, I started this as a joke to create something with two genres that area actually incompatible; I was going to make it into a click-the-ball+sniper game where every time you click the ball it breaks and you lose...but that was horrible and I started playing around with some other ideas until eventually I got this! The majority of my development time was spent tweaking the various parameters and gameplay elements to try to make it balanced and fun.

Sorry about the crappy bfxr sound effects. To turn them off, press M in the game (not the menu). Since there's no background music, this game is best played with your favorite song in the background ;)

Quick Instructions

There are instructions in-game, but if they're too messy for you I'm rewriting them here:

  • Shoot enemies to get points, and if the red bullets hit your mouse cursor you lose health

  • The blue marble is your friend! As long as the mouse is hiding behind the marble, enemies won't shoot you (stealth!)

  • PRO-TIP: if you are being overwhelmed by bullets, hide behind the blue marble until the coast is clear

  • When you kill an enemy, the points will be "carried" on your mouse. If you get hit (or miss a shot), you lose everything you're carrying.

  • Shoot the marble to transfer your carried points to it so that doesn't happen. Alternatively, use the points to buy upgrades at the top-right corner.

  • The marble will automatically unlock new abilities when you shoot enough points into it. These can be very useful

  • If you shoot the marble too much, it will break and lose all of its unlocked abilities (but you keep the points). The marble will always respawn.

  • Basically, the goal is to get a perfect game by unlocking all the marble abilities (on at least one marble) and unlocking all the sniper/player skills

  • See screenshots below for the list of upgrades and perks

NOTE about upgrading your weapon If you upgrade your weapon, you'll find that it's strong enough to destroy the marble in one shot! To avoid this, use the right mouse button when shooting the marble.

This definitely was interesting to play! I'm not great (by a long shot) but it was fun to mess around for a bit and see how I could do. One question though, in the game, it mentions you keep all the points if the marble breaks, but this doesn't seem to be happening. Bug? Changed feature? Either way, really cool game (and I'm definitely gonna see how some of my friends who play more fps games fare at it)!

@Bookworm31 oh yeah I should probably rethink the wording on that... The marble is supposed to reset to 0 points, but when it breaks, those points get saved in the "total kills" stat at the end, so they don't just disappear.

As you can probably tell by the jumbled mess of instructions both in-game and in my post, I need to work on having a better, concise intro that properly explains the game

I like playing it :)
Cool game.

There are many instructions before starting, this affraid me a bit but in game it's was quite easy to understand.

We miss some sounds and feedback to really appreciate the "shoot" feeling.

Edit :
Also, right click it's not the best idea for a web-browser game, it show "browser" parameters.

@harusame Wow you're right, I didn't even realize that the right-click didn't work in the HTML5 version! Thanks for pointing that out, I've taken it down so only the Windows version can be played. I should've probably tested it first...lol

I really like the idea to avoid bullets with the cursor. The instructions are a little bit complex but you get into it pretty fast. Good job and good use of the theme. :)

Pretty interesting and original gameplay mechanic :) Works well with a leaderboard, it's a good game for competitive play.

A very strange game with a lot of different mechanics. Nonetheless, I thought it was pretty fun. However, I don't really understand what most of the sniper upgrades do -- especially things like weapon level and bullet size, given that it seems like the only thing you're doing is clicking on enemies who are insta-killed. I also didn't manage to get really any of the blue ball upgrades -- it was really easy to click on it my accident, although I suppose that's just part of the gameplay.

In any case, I like the sheer strangeness of the game, and it does actually work pretty well.
