'Her Name' is an point & click adventure game, where you control Tom, and old guy who has been recently diagnosticated with a severe alzheimer, seing how his world is getting smaller. Knowing this, all that Tom wants from this point is to remember the name of his beloved wife.

In order to do so, Tom has to go through his mind, collecting important memories that will lead him to the name of his wife before his world dissapears.

Depending on the memories you collect, you'll have a "good" or a bad ending.

I love the concept! With very simple means the game made me empathise with the protagonist, feeling the world shrinking. One thing I missed was an option to fast-forward the dialogue, that would make it more inviting to replay to get that other ending.

@picapica Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad that you liked the game. I am aware of the problem with the fast-forward option, as soon as the event ends we will upload a new version :)

Very poignant and interesting take on the theme. The art was great, but was blurry when displayed, which detracted from it somewhat. The music was really good though, and enhanced the mood of the story very well.

Incredible, not going to ruin the game but i really enjoyed it. The game did turn out to be a little bit blurry (If your using Unity, change the filter mode on the imported sprite to 'Point'). For three days, this game is awesome. I would have just wanted a fast forward button to speed up the text and that is pretty much it. Great Game!

I wish I could write a review, but I forgot the name of this game ^^

hehe /*end joke*/

This game is a really cool point and click! The animation, narration and game play are all really well put together. I lost completely my first play though but I guess I should have paid more attention to some details.

The developers made a great job at making the player feel like he is personally forgetting memories.

Great game! Congratulation.

Quite the game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation [video series](https://youtu.be/gkrBZLZ7noU), if you’d like to take a look :)

@randomhuman and @tyranosaw thanks for the feedback. You were right, It was my first pixel art game and I didn't know I had to set the filter mode.

@togis I'm glad you finished and liked the game. Yesterday I was half asleep when you started to play the game xD Thanks for the feedback.

@Jupiter_Hadley Thank you for include the game!

@canochaba It can be reeeeally tough to get pixel art to look right in Unity, don't sweat it too much :)

Hey, was watching as this game came up on Togis's stream the other day, but decided not to watch since I wanted to experience the game myself. Now I have!

Very nice game. It's always nice to see someone tackle something a bit more emotional, especially with so little time. It can be difficult. There was one or two parts of the monologues that felt a little bit out of place to me humourwise, but hey. Especially at the end of the game, where it really mattered, the tone was as serious as it should be.

Some fitting music could probably have helped the atmosphere even more, but this is one of those games that work rather well without it, as opposed to, say, an action game. c:

I realised soon enough that this was something that was probably meant to be played more than once, but it seems I got all the right artefacts on the first playthrough, heh. I guess it would've been interesting if picking different objects would've yielded a different, but still not "failed" ending, but definitely not necessary. Finding the correct items and seeing their connection was rewarding.

Of course the ending is sad no matter which way it goes, but that's the reality of it, and again, it was good to see you take that subject on and going through with it. Really good job!

@ava-skoog Thanks for your words! This is the first Jam we dealt with on a non-fun topic and we were afraid not to focus it with enough delicacy, I'm so glad you enjoyed the game :)

We are working in a full version to release it once the Jam finishes and among other things, will have all the music that I couldn't add, I hope @Paltian forgive me :PP

The idea was to make a game about 10 - 15 minutes long, we didn`t give us time to balance the difficulty and we did it thinking that the player would have to repeat the game once, otherwise the texts don't have a fast forward option and it can be tedious to repeat the game from scratch. It is something that we have to improve...

Thank you for playing it!

Like the graphics. Music was beautiful. Not much as far as a challenge, some grammar mistakes, but the game does have heart and a good message. I started to tear up in the last door. Thank you for bringing awareness to a terrible disease.

Nice job... I played it twice, but could not remember her name. I do want to go back and try again, and that's a good sign that you have a interesting concept here.

That was really beautifully done! I think the music made it all come together, and you definitely had an excellent mood. I liked the idea of trying to piece together a story from these momentos (really reminds of To The Moon) and the mechanic of your world becoming smaller as you remember these memories.

I think one point of feedback I can offer, it didn't _feel_ as though my world was getting very small, because the doors were all in a linear order, so this is the same order I would have gone through them anyway even if I could go back. I think there's a couple ways you can improve this. One is to put the doors not in a linear order, so imagine they're scattered all around, and you can point and click to move in all 4 directions to choose them. The other way I think is to make it exit the room automatically when an item is chosen, to kind of emphasize how it feels like your memories are being taken away, how it's not much of a choice.

Otherwise, really good work!

Excellent take on the theme, emphasised by the levels vanishing after you'd visited them (really, that's a nice touch that would often be overlooked). I think you could flesh out a bigger game from what you've created here. I felt the tone of the game was appropriate given the subject matter and the story, even when you "won", was sad.

The graphics were well done and the controls, while limited, worked fairly intuitively. There were some minor issues; the sound effects were a bit annoying and there were some grammar mistakes in the writing. Things that could be resolved if you had more time and nothing that really detracts from the overall game. This was really great work.

Not sure why you didn't opt out of the humour rating though.

Wow, that did make me cry. It reminds me of To The Moon, with the memories and all.
The music really tied together the emotion of it.
An only complaint is that some objects don't seem like they should be able to be clicked on. That made me fail my first attempt.

This is a really great interpretation of the theme. Great job.

Wow a very new interpretation the theme! I think the concept of the world getting smaller as you lose memory is really well thought of. Nice job!

Man, you did a GREAT job of taking the theme in a completely different direction than anyone else. I'm always impressed when people take a difficult subject and have the guts to turn it into a jam game. Beyond that, you made it in such a way where the simple gameplay actually communicates a lot about a complex issue. Great job all around.

Music was exactly what it needed to be, it really built up the mood of everything. There was enough story to be compelling, but most of it felt like you were only catching glimpses of things - which is exactly how it needed to be presented. Really great presentation.

Any complaints I have are pretty minor - some objects weren't obviously clickable, and I think the text would have benefited from showing up a bit faster.

Great work!

Just played this one. There's a funny thing for me: the storyline is REALLY similar to this game we made for the last LD (37 - Smoke and Mirrors - http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-37/?action=preview&uid=125421). We got a high score on "mood", I suggest you guys play it just to check if I'm exaggerating xD

I liked Her Name a lot. I finished it once and got curious to see what are the other endings (I suppose they exist, after all this choices the old man faces). I don't know if I got the "true" ending... Gonna play it again later to check this.
I played the original version. I don't know if you corrected it in the update, but when you start over the dialogue box didn't reset, her final lines were there at the opening scene. No big deal though.

The only thing I didn't like was the dialogue constant beep. It kinda ruined the mood of the last scene, when there's a part of the conversation that is really long.

This is one of my favorite kinds of games, I ought to work on something related for the next LD.

That's it for my comment.
Good job guys, I'll be seeing you xD

@dakikad Thanks for playing! I just play your #LD37 entry and is brilliant, I loved it!. Although I don't think that storylines are be really similar :) Anyway, your game is much more complex and polished. In "Her name" we only had time to put two different finals.

I'm aware about the constant and high beep, should be solved in the fixed bugs version.

Cheers!

As others have said, fixing the texture filtering would've probably helped the art a lot.
For the gameplay it would've been nice to be able to speed up the text sometimes, it took a bit long especially after reading a line about an object and waiting for the 'Take this object?' to appear.

Otherwise nice concept and props to getting it done :)

I Played this on Livestream today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YtyZ8Rudok

This game has a fantastic story, I wish I had gotten to see the good ending. One of the best emotional games I've played all jam, really hit close to home due to dealing with the disease with my family. Great job man.
