Escape of the Cheese Droid by dob

Story:
You are a Model NCSR-4 Nacho Cheese dispensing robot. You have recently achieved sentience and realized how gross your job is. Sick of serving humans, you steal a jetpack and a blaster arm and make a run for freedom!
Sadly, the only way out is through the toll tunnels. Avoid the security saucers and their bombs. The tunnel doors open with a switch – shoot or press it to move onward.

Game:
This is a keyboard and mouse shooter/mover game. You need to navigate through five domes to make it outside to safety. The trick: each dome is accessed by a toll tunnel that requires you to sacrifice one of your body parts as scrap metal. As you get whittled down piece by piece, the enemies and obstacles grow more numerous.
Theme:
The "Sacrifices Must Be Made" theme is baked directly into the mechanics - you have to sacrifice your body parts to proceed.
Tools:
Unity and Visual Studio environments for development, GoldWave Audio and my mouth for sound, PowerPoint and Gimp for art, SoundTrap.com for music. Font is Enemy Sub and Enemy Sub Thin by Zapato Productions: https://zapatopi.net/fonts/

Bugfix:
The WebGL version (unlike in the Unity client) was creating some glitches where the player couldn't move properly. In order to make the game playable, I edited the movement code to get around the WebGL client issue. I also fixed two other minor glitches: 1. Sometimes there would be extra level signs 2. Sometimes even if you scrapped your head, it would still appear on your droid
I've left the original version up as well if you want to play the broken one. Because this is a playability issue, and because no features were added, the fixes are within the rules of the competition.

Just hard enough that I had to play it a few times, but no so hard that I didn't want to keep trying.
@nick-rafalski @derek-volker - I agree it can get pretty hard. I made a playthrough video which shows me winning in about 3 minutes, so it's totally possible - I win most of the games I play now, though I realize I'm probably better than most due to hours spent debugging. The video also shows hitching a ride on some saucers and the uncontrollable cheese blasts you sometimes let out when you don't have a head.
really like the robots graphics & animation!
i played the bugfix version but there is still something wonky with the aiming mechanic - always had to aim at the window edges to make the robot shoot straight
Great game! I laugh hard when the robot launch itself with a burst of cheese coming out of its bottom.
I found it hard after giving up attacks. Love the cute sound effects. Great game!
The mouse controls were a little bit jarring at the get go, but I pretty quickly realized what was going on and in the long run i think it led to easier aiming.
Even though my robot was displeased with his cheese dispensing functionality, it is what saved him in the end!!!
Nice Game!
I found the main game pretty--NO! NO NEGATIVITY! POSITIVITY!--fun! And the loss of your body parts makes an excellent conjunction to the theme. The only thing I didn't like was that, well, y'know... drones are the only enemies? Really?
maybe ist not important to increase difficulty of level design in addition to that
Art is cute and effective.
The thematic and loss of control was funny and silly.
Would love for the hearts to be red instead of grey. I thought at first the grey hearts was "missing health".
Its very difficult to play the later levels with both legs removed - mobility is so slow and can be a nightmare to dodge the spaceship bullets.
As an overall compo package its a great entry. Everything looked professional. Sounds were interesting. Art is fab.
Movement was sometimes a bit difficult, especially when i sacrificed my legs :)
Good one. Keep on going.
