Cats Without Cars by B33Thr33

Your cat may not have a car, but it has rocketpowered hoverboots, a gun and loads of fun.
In this insane Arena-Shooter any upgrades you want to purchase cost your life. Luckily, you're a cat and therefore got 7 of them. Even luckier: you can steal the other cat's lifes by shooting them with your big-ass gun.

The first upgrades come cheap. But watch out, the really good upgrades, that make you a flying bulletstorm of pain and agony for everyone around you, cost up to 5 lifes and even a badass life-stealer like you, can never hold more than 7.

So power up your boots, distribute aerial-style headshots like a croupier of death and become the ultimate killing-machine. Only after you took all lifes of your enemies, you will be victorious.
But wait, there is more: To spice things up, you can just start again in a brand new, one of a kind arena (Random-Generator), you have never seen before.

If you ever wanted to watch wild programmers and artists in nature, now we give you a chance. Our timelapse clip gives you a nice overview how we created "cat without cars" in the 72 hour Jam. And some stayed up all day and night:

ChangeLog: - 1.1.1 - Fixed a problem where cats could dissapear and not be killable. - Fixed a sound bug that played the wrong effect when hitting a palyer or the shield. - Player now wont freeze any longer in the shop after dieing. - 1.1.0 - Player stucked in Mid Air after shooting an enemy while he was dieing with 1 life left. - Fixed a Animation Bug in the Start Screen. - 1.0.7 - We thought it's unfair that the enemy can kill you right after you start the game, so we removed that feature. - But for removing that feature we increased the enemies life by 1 (in total they have 3 now) - We know that cats love laser pointers. So do we! Therefore we increased the size of the target laser pointer. - To compare scores with others, we also included your bounty in both end screens, not just when you die. (Post your scores in the comments by the way. We would love to know how well you did!) - The camera now rotates more intuitively and you are even able to rotate it by pressing Q/E - Improved the UI by simplifying text and buttons - 1.0.6 - Relocated huge bounty UI element, that was blocking the view. He just had a big ego - Play sounds now when and where they should play, and not before their time has come - 1.0.5 - Fix Laser Pointer hiding behind trees. We commented out the shy factor - 1.0.4 - Initial Release - Downloadable at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OKrvh38UpZNaAHRhUPBhHsgcSKSins0E
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MAC OS AND LINUX USER
We could not test the builds for those Systems. Mac users will have to [ctrl] + click the App and choose open. You Probably have to try it a couple of times. Then please install the recommended software. Starting the App can lead to error messages but giving the App some time can fix that problem.

Ideas are nice!
Keep the good work jammers!
But overall, I had some fun as a badass-looking cat zipping around at top speed shooting other cats out of existence and stealing their essence for upgrades. Nice work!
I wish the shooting had some lock-on or aiming assistance. Had a hard time getting kills, but maybe I'm just bad, heheh. I also wish the game paused while shopping so I could think about my purchase without worrying about dying.
All in all, wonderful game, wonderful characters, lovely soul! Thanks for making this!
(I'm not that good in the game, but I found it a little hard to target cats with rockets on their feet!)
I beat the game. Your game was fantastic! The art style was really simple and to the point. It could have used a bit of lighting or especially fog, but I'm not complaining. The music was okay too and I liked the cat meow.
It also fit the theme pretty well. I liked how you gain other cats' lives and combine it with your own and use it as a currency.
Now onto the game. Personally the camera was fine, I think that's part of the gaming aspect, but the acceleration was a bit too much. I died a couple of times because I went out of bounds due to not being able to stop myself in time. The upgrades were good, and the game ended before I could experience all of them, but some of them are overpowered - like the bullet speed one is clearly superior to the bullet size one. Also I felt that my success depended on luck rather than skill. The controls can be a little erratic and hard to point. This is also why the bullet speed upgrade rules over them all.
With a bit of tweaking and balancing and this could make a very good online game! This may sound strange but I had a very io feel to it where the stronger ones become even stronger.
It was very fun!
And yes our goal is to make this game online playable after the jam! But for the next couple of days we all need some rest x)
And I found a bug if you have 1hp and you die, but your bullet hits something and you get hp, then I'm stuck in the air forever.

It's very funny and beautiful and I loved the theme and overall idea. nice job!
Played four times, got two wins, and two losses, one of which was due to the last cat disappearing (assumedly they sped off the map as I did a number of times :P), but had fun nevertheless. The balance is fantastic, the visuals are great, and the utter insanity of zooming around with practically no drag or friction to stop you is just *ridiculously* fun.
My only nitpicks would be that the mouse camera controls are inverted (under my Linux install, anyway), and that rotating the camera with Q/E is pretty slow, but those're mostly just tiny polish tid-bits.
Great work, overall!
The shooting is a little jank, it's hard to tell if I'm really on target or not, but maybe that's just further contributing to the wild style of the game.
We would like to fix that problem :)
Thanks for interest in fixing it, but I am afraid I cannot much help pointing something more out, and it's funny since it looks like nobody else has such a trouble.
Nice game idea too!!!!
First of all controls, I found the way movement worked in bit annoying way. Camera movement seemed too fast and control scheme was too complicated for me to get in such a fast paced game.
Level structure and spawning player was quite unfair. Enemies would shoot me from out of screen and with the really fast moving bullets dodging is quite hard. Some obstacles in level could prevent this. And maybe limit how high you can aim, as there was lot of spawn camping happening, sometimes I could not even land before I was already shot. Also didn’t find any shops (or stayed alive long enough to find them)?
I love the night-in-the-wood-ish art style. Just some nitpicking for the graphics: things like margins and cohesion with UI graphics and rest of the game bothered me. Really making sure that every margin and padding and such is though out can make graphics go from great to perfect.
All in all your game nicely executed and has lot of great aspects in it, despite minor flaws.
Also in the original version every cat had 7 lifes, even the bad ones. So you would need to kill all 10 bad cats 7 times.
And great score with 2000 points! Glad you had fun with our game!

Color pallette turns some of the characters almost under a camouflage, i think that they should have more living, saturated, contrasting colors.
Add some kindd of vertex animation to grass and tree leaves, a bit of leaves particles to add more depth and immersion.
Add sound ambience to the forest, like leaves, wind, birds, with a bit of reverberation to increase the sensation of an open space.
Add a flickering point light below the rocket boots to add more presence and power to It, some scorched earth and burning grass trails.
Add small trail renders to assist the aiming and a point light to the bullets to also increase their visibility.
