The cards required a lot of trial and error, but I liked the strategy involved when you start to figure out what card does what. The sun card was humorous as it did exactly as I expected... killed everyone and made my fire quite bright. The graphical style was nice but a little lacking (the deck could've been more than just a box) and the music set the mood fantastically. Seems like this LD we'll be doing a lot of sacrificing, haha. Great job :grinning:

I like the visuals, but it lacks something in the background. The game art reminds me a lot of some other game, but I just can't remember the name of it.
I was a bit confused as to what the values were on the UI, such as the value that went up overtime. One of them looked like it counted the amount of sacrified people, but not sure what the others were :-D

I really like the music, has a nice mood :-)
What did you use to make the music?
Gj on this game :-)

Amazing minimalistic artstyle, i had the chance to look at this game "under the hood" (on stream :P ) and it is very well coded. good job!

Love the minimalistic stylized aesthetic. The game idea is very original too.
My only issue was that the pace was a bit too slow, I think that the game would be more fun at x2 speed.
Other than that fun, cute game. Had fun experimenting with the cards.

@gerardb you can sacrifice your people to the deck to make the progress tick faster. :)

The minimalist art style was pretty cool. I think adding some tooltips to explain the game mechanics will help a lot! The only technical issues I noticed was the collider for the cult members seems to be 2D and only work if they are facing the camera. Gute Arbeit! ;)

Really good art style (except the deck of cards which took some time to identify because it was just a cube), loved how every sacrifice has a name.It took me some time to understand the point of the cards but once I got it, it was really interesting to test them out.
Good game!

I really enjoyed the idea and execution. Could make some improvements to the players always facing the camera, modify the music, increase card flip over speed, and add some more cards to the deck. Great game!

You've nailed the mood and sound, very nice. I also really like the smoke effect.

Am I right in thinking that the gameplay is basically that you need to find lots of Spades in the deck to grow your population? Nothing else seemed to be half as helpful!

@radical-dog yes, spades is best for the longevity of your clan, until you can get absurd numbers with lovers. However the game just desperately needs some UX improvements to highlight the effect of other cards more. Clubs for example sacrifices your followers but gives you a multiplier to your score, similar to diamonds - which does nothing during gameplay but boosts your basepoints in the end. The fire has multiple things affecting it's strengthdecline like buffervalues, steady decline and relative decline which get affected by hearts-cards - but it's all under the hood and poorly communicated to the player.

Even though the feedback on the game is pretty evenly split between it being garbage or pretty cool it's one I'm personally more interested in, so I figured I'll add some more cards and polish to a postcompo version, even if it's just for me. :)
