It is the year 2060. Your world has faced all manner of threats. Climate change, plagues, and meteor strikes have left it desperate.
Now, another threat looms.
ALIENS.
They have placed your world in a giant metal cube, as ALIENS do.
The ALIENS may outnumber you ∞/1, but you feel confident in your ability to fend them off!
Instructions
Destroy ALIENS by shooting them.
You have a limited amount of health, which is always draining. You must act quickly to avoid death! This health regenerates between rounds.
You can ram the ALIENS, which hurts you but hurts the ALIENS more. This isn't always the right choice but it can be effective.
Pick up green satellites to regain some health.
Destroy all ALIENS to go to the next round. Your health refills between each round.
Highscores are kept globally, so try to get to the top of the board!
ALIENS
Satellites

Satellites give you extra health. Pick them up when you are running low.
Orbital Cannons

Orbiters slowly rotate around the planet, launching streams of bullets at the player. They have a medium amount of health
Carriers

Carriers launch volleys of missiles at the player. They have a large amount of health.
Missiles

Missiles follow the player, and deal a small amount of damage on hit. They are launched by carriers and take one hit to destroy.
Orbiters

Orbiters rotate around the player, draining health. They also block the players shots. The light below the player turns red when under the effect of an orbiter.
Flyers

Flyers are harmless, and orbit around the planet. They don't need to be destroyed to proceed in the level.
Debris

Debris are the asteroids around the level. They deal a small amount of damage when they hit the player.
Controls
Turning
Use A and D or ⬅️ and ➡️ to turn.
Throttle
Control the throttle with W, ⬆️, or X
Laser
Fire your laser with SPACE, or Z

Clearly rigged. I'll be back!
(For real though, really clean and fun. Has nice Luftrausers vibes)
The design is just perfect from the player turning radius and bullet lifetime to enemy placement and behavior.... Just perfect!
Now excuse me, I'll be going for that highscore :ok_hand:
The gameplay is really hard but also a lot of fun!
The soundtrack is really well chosen and the feedback, like the camera shake is great!
The only thing I have to say is that the counter for the restart is with 10 seconds to long.
In such an addictive game never let your players escape!
The global highscores completes the experience.
All I can say is: congratulations on a great submission!
Me after roughly 10 seconds: "Oh... well maybe not."
The game is insanely difficult, and that was it's best quality! I can't say that I'll be beating the high score, but I'm pretty sure I'll be coming back, so who knows...? The graphics were perfect, and the music fit well, with all of the SFX being excellent! The high score system is incredible, and tied everything together. This is exactly what a modern-day arcade game should be like!
My only complaint is that sometimes the controls feel a bit weird to work with. With the spaceships having perfect aiming, it often feels unfair. This isn't exactly a bad thing, as it contributes to the difficulty, but perhaps having using "w" to move and the mouse to point where you want to go could have also created a difficult, yet more fair experience. It would allow for increased accuracy, although this would sacrifice some of the difficulty, which may not be good. Maybe I'm just mad that I'm not able to beat the high-score . However, unless it was possible to test this, I'm not sure how much the game would sacrifice by using these controls.
I should point out that when I saw the gif of your game, I immediately, audibly said, "*gasp*! he made a good game!". Turns out, I was right! This game was very well constructed and polished, and easily one of the best, if not THE best entry I've seen in this competition. Fantastic job!
It's immediately recognizable how much thought went into this game. From draining health to introduce a natural timing factor to the continue functionality that allows locking the difficulty. It has everything it needs, be it screenshake effects or even a highscore table to keep up the motivation. There are a lot of little touches, like the soft outer boundary and menu transitions. It's a very polished entry and I love it!
On the downside, I found the music to be kind of monotonous. I assume you wanted to go for a chilly atmospheric vibe, but it seems a bit repetitive. Maybe the base line is a bit too prominent.
Also I thought the controls were not quite tight enough, but that could be an "easy to learn, difficult to master" thing. Specifically since you can only thrust forwards, and the orbital cannons always fire at you head on, it's quite tricky to avoid them. Even if that is by choice, I think the momentum mechanics could use a little tweaking. I found myself struggling with picking up the extras because I had some sideways momentum left.
My biggest complaint however would be the lack of fullscreen, which to my mind, would not only have a positive visual effect, but might also help with the controls since a bigger screen allows for finer interaction.
Despite the complaints, I think it's a very fun game, and I'll keep it in my itch library for replay.

Fullscreen **is** in the game, I just forgot to mention it :P
Its in the description now.
Use ```F``` or ```F11```.
The control are good even thought I would have love the ability to move sideways and reverse acceleration.
The game play is epic and hectic, with particle effects everywhere giving life to the game.
It was a bit hard at first to identify what is an enemy and what was a pickup. But the ld page description helped with that.
Overall, a very good game. Congratulation!
(You can see me playing this game for the first time on the vod https://youtu.be/lXUmif8KKxM?t=54m17s )
I also really like the concept of constantly losing health
It is a bit challenging and it took me a couple of minutes to get the control of the spaceship.
But all in all it is a very very good game! :)
(I think the controls for the left button don't work - If you are holding Up and Left you aren't able to shoot and the spaceship is just moving in one direction instead of rotating and shooting)
This is my new favorite game from this event. SO MUCH FUN.
I only managed a score of 2500ish and I'm pretty sure difficulty doesn't reset when you die because I had to restart the game between deaths.
Having the planet in the middle hurt you when you shoot it adds so much challenge - in a good way I'd say. It's realistic (as much as you can be with a space shooter)
The simple graphics with the nice particles worked really well together. I have nothing negative to say, I love this.
If you could provide a Linux build that would be awesome! :D
Also, make sure to check out my entry if you want too, I would appreciate.
This is a fantastic shooter - congratulations on a great entry!
Full of action and I'm a terrible spaceship pilot kill me please.
I'll keep trainning!
The death animation is perfect.
Congratulations!
Cheers!
You really did it good, the music, the sounds, the graphics, THE EXPLOSION PARTICLES :D
Nice game, 5/5
Great game feel, though maybe the ship rotation was *slightly* too slow, and overall speed was *slightly* too fast, making it tough to finely adjust the laser angles.
Only improvement would be some kind of powerup system, but you already did a lot for a compo game, so well done!
I go in to further detail in this video.

As always a game that feels practically done and ready to sell, amazing what you can do in any amount of time with a nice pixel art style and good sfx + music!
The controls do take a bit to get used to, but I think that just makes this game a little more appealing since one really has to practice to get good...
Definitely gonna play this again in the future
Great particle effects and smooth movement, and well done on the variety of enemies etc. Graphics were nice, the retro look was done really well.
