Zest & Goop by conk
A Tower Defence game with a twist.
You play as a Ghost and must defend your precious Crystal from the enemy Shades. The Shades drop Goop which your trusty Crystal can convert into Zest, an energy source that will keep your equipment running! Just stand to the left of the Crystal and any Goop you've picked up will rush into it. If the Crystals' health drops to 0, you lose! Survive until the end of wave 10 to ... uh, win? Honestly, win/lose conditions were a little rushed
You can move around your Ghost by using "WASD" or arrow keys, use "E" or "ENTER" to toggle your machines on and off and stand on the power pads while they're on to give them zest (if you have any). Some machines passively use Zest while others only use it when attacking Shades, be careful not to waste too much energy.
Once you've collected some Goop from your enemies corpses, be sure to head over to the Crystal Converter to fill it up, once it has Goop it will begin to create Zest.
I just looked up goop and apparently it means "A stupid person", I thought it was gibberish, opps!
Due to Ludum Dare being moved, I couldn't do anything Saturday and Sunday wasn't overly productive (hang over), so sadly a solo game made by comp rules but entering jam :disappointed:
EDIT: Adding web version of game (usually they never work for me)

That was really cool, love the harvesting mechanic, art is nice, it works really well.
@shinmera - Yeah, I forgot to mention that in the description, admittedly I was very tired when finishing up and forgot to do a lot of things :P
@swav-gav - Essentially stand on the left of the machine to deposit, in my rush to upload I forgot to mention this, sorry.
@seanw - The walls are just there to make sense of the enemies routes and I figured a ghost should be able to pass through them (it's also required to complete the game as you need to be everywhere at once!)
@hairaz - Thanks! At first I though it was a terrible idea and didn't really start believing until a few hours before the deadline.
Here is what I liked and what I didn't like
I liked the system of wave where enemies spawn randomly and each wave, the difficulty is more, I liked the cause of the game, safeguarding your rocket from those bad guys.
I liked the way the surrounding reacted like the enemies, traps etc
I liked the background looping music
But the only thing I didn't like was the collect sound, It was pretty annoying and loud I guess.
I loved the game, No issues.
I like how it feels pretty polished with the nice graphics and music, just a bit glitchy when the ghost overlaps the walls. Not much to say, you could probably do some more levels and that would be a neat HTML5 game.
Well done!
Also you gotta add a link on your itch.io page to this one. It was a pain finding to get here to comment.
-The spikes draining energy all the time. Makes sense realism wise, but it's a big hassle in game. Maybe have them come up only when enemies pass over?
-I didn't realize at first you could pass through walls. I guess it makes sense since you're a ghost, but why not just not have them there at all since they serve no gameplay purpose? The path on the floor should be enough to let the player know the route enemies will take
-The big enemy should have something to distinguish him from the rest, a bright outline or something. Couple of times I didn't see him from under a horde of smaller enemies. He seemed like the only real threat in the game so it would really help if he was easy to spot and follow.
Not meaning to sound harsh, it's just that this is an actual good game so I'm giving actual critique. Great job on it, definitely one of the best games in the jam I've played so far. Good luck!
