This is a small tech demo for Ludum Dare 43 to test out my fantasy console project, Galapagos. I may return to it with a fleshed out design and production in the future. I'm mostly interested in technical feedback on the stability and performance of this build.

You are Vee, a vampire who thirsts for the blood of villagers. However, to get villagers to prey on, she has to build the village herself.

How to play: Press the arrow keys to move around the map. Press the "A" key to pick up rocks and gain material. Press the "S" key to turn the material into walls near you. When villagers appear, run into them to gain strength.

A very nice concept and prototype, would be nice to work some more and expand the idea. Build complex buildings, maybe only spawn people in enclosed spaces and so on. Really nice. GJ

I like the concept, and how the player slowly change her appearance as it grows weaker. I'd like to play the complete version. Nice job!

A fun seed game that can be grown into a full-fledged game with enough development. I liked experimenting with building things. I was able to build a "pen" with the stones to trap villagers, and was able to gain a lot of strength that way.

You could make the game more challenging by having the strength count down to zero if villagers aren't available, at which point the game ends. Just an idea. Overall, a cool game.

A good initial prototype - although I was a bit confused by the way in which the walls were to be placed. All in all, impressive work on the engine set up, although it would have been nice to have a goal for the demo (a countdown of time, or try to get a certain number of villagers before the end).

Neat prototype, but very rough. It'll be interesting to see what you can do with it!

I really like the game, the "Build your own base" sort of thing, but since most things aren't very precise (the move controls and the placing material controls), it's kind of hard to build really precise bases. It kind of became boring since there was no real reason to build bases, you just kind of could. Also, it would be nice to have the controls stated in the game, just so if someone didn't read the ludum dare page, they would still know how to play. Nice prototype, I would love to see it developed further!
