Cake Hunters by bbaf
Birthday, big cake, family. Sounds beautiful, isn't it? But what can go wrong?
TONS of CHERNOBYL insects from dirty dishes, that's what can happen!
Can you protect a birthday party and family's cake from insects and keep good relationships with your family members?
Destroy all insects, protect your cake and relationships! Good luck.

Controls:
Left Mouse Button - attack insects or activate/deactivate family members
Mechanic:
The main goal is to survive insects invasion by killing all of them and protect the cake.
The cake has some health, but it cannot stand attacks for very long, so do your best and try to keep insects away from it!
To attack insects - hover the mouse over them and press LMB (click).
Every single hit - 1 click.
Enemies:
Ant has 1 health, so one click will destroy it.
Fly has 2 health, 2 clicks required.
The cockroach has 3 health, logical to assume 3 clicks required to kill it.
Centipede... Well, let's keep it in secret  But prepare yourself to click a lot if you want him to die!
*Family members: *
Each family member can help you with killing insects, you just need to activate a member by clicking on him/her.
They have their own zones where they deal a damage.
But be aware, with time your family members will lose their mood, so be ready to deactivate them in time (by clicking on them again).
So, you need to balance their help and their mood if you want them to be happy at the end of the game.
They have 3 stages: happy, okay and sad. Don't let them be sad :(
Family members are good helpers, but don't expect them to do all the dirty job for yourself!

Challenging game, I love the final boss :D
Thematically it seems a bit lacking, but I enjoyed myself, and found it funny.
Thank you for your comments and video! We really appreciate it, and glad that someone liked our game.
The idea about mood restoration for family members sounds very interesting. Perhaps we will be able to implement it in a more game-like way with some new mechanics.
e.g. The player may throw some candies on the table, and if a family member grabs it - his/her happiness will be restored by a bit.
Also, seems that ability to squash the bugs in the first place is not very clear from the start of the game. Same, about the family members. Usually, people use only one mechanics instead of combining both.
We need to add some short tutorial to work this issue around.
Unfortunately I'm not able to make a Mac build for now. Sorry.
The nearest workaround may be the HTML build. We had one, but it was too badly optimized to left it on itch.io.
I will try my best to fix it during the next week, and rebuild it for the Web.
Please, stay tuned
I don't see a thematic connection here. This is a tower defense, without a maze, where the towers will overheat if not micro managed; there are no sacrifices!
A sacrifice is about giving something valuable away in exchanged for something potentially more valuable taken the situation. There should be some risk involved. Here everyone is working towards the same goal, and they will eventually fail no matter what. I didn't get the theme right either, though, so there's that!
If the project was to be expanded to a tower defense, or a simple survival challenge, then there should be a goal for the player to fight for, be it to complete a level or to reach a high score. Currently the "towers" are very ineffective so the exercise becomes mostly about clicking. Clicking challenges are very annoying as excessive clicking *itself* is very annoying... Not a fan.
The graphical assets don't fit together well, they are all in different styles. This affects the mood too, which is improved up by the quirky music though.
The design isn't there, but the project it is functional... *no bugs.*
