Is it possible to combine first person shooter and Scrabble? Yes, it is,

In Cross Word Shooter you must defend galactic pillar from hostile letter cubes. Your pillar has limited hull durabilitiy though. Shoot with cannon to cubes. If you create a word, you can submit it to gain points. The longer the word, the more points you get. Every 100 points repairs your hull.

Controls:

Look around - Mouse

Shoot - Left Mouse Button (Fire1)

Submit - Right Mouse Button (Fire2)

Not sure if it's just me but I couldn't manage to submit a word successfully. Even though I had a word on the bottom of the screen, every time I RightClicked I'd just hear a buzzer.

Aside from that issue, I liked the concept, nice job :)

The words I submitted didn't work and I couldn't figure out how to quit (had to alt+f4)

I really like the concept. Submitting long and short words has the same damage, so I would just shoot a lot of letters when I cannot catch up and press submit once. I am just wondering if this is intended. I really like the gameplay though, it is so intense hahahahaa. GOOD JOB!

Lol I love the concept, it matches the theme perfectly. I use to play scrabble with my mother, I will make her try it for sure.
The game was funny, it is a bit challenging but that is not bad at all. I managed to survive forming short words like prepositions (some of them in other languages I have never spoke, though).
Well done, it look like it was a bit complex to make it.

Its an interesting take on the theme for sure, I like the martian background. Problem I got was it makes you prioritize making short words, if you mess about looking for longer words then chances are you will take much more damage.

Funky combo - certainly see the 'incompatible' in these genres :P Hard to get a word off with them flying at you.

Nice looking surroundings too.

Ideas for tweaks:
- Add health powerups to shoot
- Danger indications
- Long words => clear closest letters
- Two/three letter 'boss' cubes

Really nice idea - I could see this being a lot of fun with some refinement - but as it was, I was finding it a bit too hard to hit distant letters, and was quickly overwhelmed due to them advancing from a full 360 degrees...

(Actually, I could see this making a very fun little VR game if you add some of @joror's suggestions, limit the letters to attacking from maybe a 120-180 degree frontal cone, and have the precision of the Vive or Oculus Touch controllers to shoot them)

Interesting concept, though some aspects made it frustrating, like the extreme fall rate of the shots. That combined with the fact that the letters closest to you aren't necessarily the ones you want to spell a word made things tough - these concepts are kind of in conflict, like it was frustrating to have to throw away a word I wanted to build just to survive. Also I had the same issue where some common english words weren't recognized (zip) and other non-words were (zo and li are words??) Still pretty cool, with some gameplay tweaks this could be really fun. Nice work!

Nice game! Definitely one of the more enjoyable games I've played. If I had to give a few criticisms, it was odd sometimes what was considered a word and what wasn't. That and the 360 degree shooting did definitely make it confusing to prioritise my shots. Otherwise, nice fun concept!
