Enjoyed the game, really love the aesthetic! I wonder if the movement would seem "smoother" if player and enemy movement happened (animated?) simultaneously.

Thank you. Good idea with the movement. Have to try that out for a later version :)

Thats a really fun game, good job. The turns felt a little bit unpredictable (input lag ish). Very neat game though.

Really neat game, nice concept! And I love the graphics. Sometimes I button mash tough, cause I think it's my turn again, I don't know if you safe the button press for some time, and then execute that action when it's your turn, but it still works great!

Thank you. Buttonmashing should be fine. I should have made it more clear when its your turn :)

Really cool game ! Well done, brownie points for sticking with LibGDX and java ! :) Background music could further improve the hype.

Like the game
The turn based movement took me some time to understand. I like the retro neon look and feel of the game. The menus are well done. Most people don't bother with a finished menu.
I found i wanted to stand still a couple of turns. Is there a skip turn button?
I think your game fits the theme really well :smile_cat:

Thank you! There was a skip turn button but i wasnt sure about it and removed it again to force the player to move. Still not quite sure about it though :)

I love it. It is a really nice one.

The only three critics I have :
- would deserve a full screen mode.
- add a retro epic music.
- reduce the delay between turns to make it more dynamic.

That's pretty awesome. I have one bug to report: when I hit an enemy, the application crashes. It shows this error in the terminal:

I love the background and text graphics. The gameplay is fun, but it does feel a bit awkward to ahve to move or shoot to start another wave of enemies. Some nice retro space-y music would serve this game so well. Good job!

Great execution, great visual style, I really like this game! I'm not sure how many types of enemies there are, but it's clear that their AI has had some work put into it. I also quite enjoyed how it is signified how and when the enemies and weapons/projectiles will behave in several turns, so you can plan ahead. Overall, a real nice game!

Nice postprocessing effects!

I wish the turns were faster or there was a play speed option for when I'm moving around to build energy.

It feels like G is the best option in almost every situation. H helps vs multiple shields but is too risky vs a shielded H enemy since it's not a 1 turn kill.

Good game!

* I really like the line indicating that there's still some connection between ship and bomb before detonation.
* Other people have mentioned the strange input lag; It would be nice to have some indication (user ship glows, small beep, etc.) that user input had been recognized to prevent people like me from inputting two moves in a row accidentally because I didn't think the first had registered.
* I like how you can crash into other ships, even if it damages you! :D
* the background white noise/snow adds a sense of depth to the screen
* It's a bit strange that the energy counter ticks up on the enemies' turn, seems like it would make more sense to have it be as a result of player movement rather than as a result of enemy movement.
* I like the pink -> green background gradient to contrast the green player that stays mostly on the left side and the green enemies that stay mostly on the right side.
* I wish I could drop multiple bombs. I want to explore the strategy of turning the whole place into a minefield :D
* screen shake is :thumbsup:

Well done!

Really nice game! The mix of the glowy neon with the low-fi characters, plus the fuzzing and drop shadow effects on the text all makes for a really slick aesthetic look. On top of which the gameplay was really interesting and fairly intuitive. I did get a crash at one point using the H-beam, but not really a big deal. Polished piece of work, great job!

Good concept! definitely starts getting quite hard as you get further along. I really like the large amount of strategy available from just 3 abilities. The art style is also great and the sound fx work well, it'd be good if it also had music playing!

really had fun with it.

Beautiful. I started it up and in my head could hear retro synth music. The beeps for the menu just amplified the illusion. I didn't get anywhere in-game though XD

Really cool entry! I absolutely love the old school arcade CRT screen effect and graphics. Gameplay is easy to learn and yet challenging enough. At times it was bit hard to tell apart enemy ships and their bullets, especially those with long line weapon thing. But after I learned how they behaved and what shoot, it wasn’t problem. Sound design is pretty minimal, I missed background music or some kind of ambience.

Extremelly nice game. It goes straight to the point: mixing both genres and making it look completely natural. Graphics are enjoyable and sounds are ok, although I miss some music. I like how each power up is unique in this new setup, and strategy is key.

The only drawback is that enemy turn takes a second where your input is ignored, so the controls feel unresponsive for a moment. I would have preferred something closer to Lufia II, where your movement and the enemy one are done at the same time. I assume you programmed their decisions depending on the input of the player not its previous movement.

Nevertheless, it's a really polished and interesting game I really liked. Good work!

Very interesting this combination. The commands seemed to sometimes not work even with power, but I found it very strategic and very fun. Congratulations!

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.
