Small God by Wevel

[raw]
made by Wevel for LD 43 (JAM)

Made using Compo rules, I need the extra time so it is entered into the Jam. Picture2.png

As a small god out in the desert, you must use your limited power to make the people believe in you. When they do, they will start to worship you, and make sacrifices in your honor.

It can be best to let a number of people build up before starting to use powers, to make them more worth the cost of using the power. Also the belief map mode is the main one you will want to use.

There isn't really any goal, other than to try and get the largest number of followers you can. Interesting to see how many followers people can get, I havn't properly been able to test the game for a long time.

Controls: - 1/2/3/4/5 -> select power - q -> Show the normal map mode - w -> Show the wealth map mode, red mean poor, green mean rich - e -> Show the belief map mode, yellow means non believer, blue means believer - '-' -> Decrease time warp speed - '+' -> Increase time warp speed - Space -> Set time warp to the slowest speed - a/d or left/right arrow -> Move camera - Right click -> cancel current god power - Hold middle mouse button -> move camera - Left click -> Use god power

Powers: - Smite -> Kill a single person, Picture3.png - Bless -> Provide a blessing to some people, they will much more strongly believe in you after Picture4.png - Gift -> Give wealth to a single person Picture5.png - Fireball -> Kill a number of people in an area, anyone who sees will be truly fearful of you Picture6.png - Earthquake - > Destroy the buildings in the area Picture7.png

Buildings: - Shack -> Lets a small number of poor people live there Picture8.png - House -> Lets a number of slightly wealthy people live there Picture12.png - Ritual Circle -> lets poor people make sacrifices Picture9.png - Temple -> lets slightly wealth people make sacrifices Picture11.png - Small Pyramid -> lets rich people make sacrifices Picture10.png - Large Pyramid -> lets very rich people make sacrifices Picture13.png

I've always wanted to make a game like this. Took me a little bit to figure out how it worked, but I had fun for a few minutes.

Very neat idea and concept, managed to get my worshipers build a couple of nice pyramids! Found to be best played with the speed at maximum level, love how to see my little society growing quickly... only to drop a fireball! Makes me feel evil :zap: UI was a bit confusing at first, but grasped it in a few minutes. Congrats on the entry, had a great time playing.

Nice art style, music was a little repetitive but wasn't that jarring. Interesting concept, I struggled at first getting enough god power to keep followers.

I really liked the pixel art! though one thing I think you should've done was change the font from the default Unity font to really seal the deal! other than that, great entry!

Nice little game, I agree with the font... it should be pixelated!
I love crushing those guys with my mighty thunder. One thing, in the WebGL version the UI is croppped, unless I go fullscreen

Wow, quite a complex game! Good job! I was quite overwhelmed with the amount of skills, moving along the map and switching between modes. The music gets a little annoying after a while :P

Quite expansive game with plenty of mechanics. I didn't really know what to do but it was really polished with great graphics, nice menus and complexity. Good job!

Interesting game. Just a small suggestion, while moving left/right if I press space to move to the maxium speed. Good job.

This is a neat idea for a game! The only complaint I have is that the controls are a little confusing, but once I figured them out, it was smooth sailing! I enjoyed smiting all of my followers five thousand times, and then bestowing a nice fireball upon them. I'm the nicest god ever!
