Really fun game to play, espacially with a friend. Simple and fun idea of gameplay. Neat graphics, but character controlls needs to be a little more polished(is it planned to make character fall down the screen while steering?).

Hi @theflyingkeyboard! Thanks for the feedback! Indeed character control is still a bit rough. Right now we are just focused on voting other published games but in the near future we would like to polish it a bit more to publish it in itch.io and similar websites. About the character falling we haven't planed that but it is an idea worth considering! Thanks for the idea!

Well done! It's my favorite so far.
Some points of improvements would be character controls, you don't need to change the animations to have a smoother control and a more aggressive AI.
I found a bug on the AI who try to attack me even if there was a wall between us.

Hi @thrainsa! Many thanks for the feedback! We are happy that you really liked it! We tried to improve the controls towards the end of the jam but time ate us up  And thanks for the AI tip, we'll look into it. After the jam voting finishes we are planning to clean-up and improve certain aspects of the game before posting it back to gaming websites. Cheers!

Really fun, even against the AI. Will definitely bring this up the next time I have some buddies over for couch multiplayer. Like the others have said, it could use some minor tweaks to moving and shooting. Do you guys have a place where I can follow future updates?

Very nice game you got there :P I liked it a lot and a cool first Jam Entry :) The AI could be a bit more aggressive on map 1 and 3. On map 2 he somehow played very aggressive which was a lot of fun :D

Wow very well done! Were the levels being generated randomly? The AI is a bit stupid now, but that is to be expected ofcourse haha. First try he did win from me though xD. A really fun game! Nice work!

Nice little game! The AI feels weird, but I assume that you didn't have lots of time to perfect it. Overall a very nice solid game

Haha, very nice! I like that it had some AI to play against. Very nicely done. FUCKING AWESOME GRAPHICS!!! Keep going guys, epic job, looking forward to more Ludum Dare games from you! This one kicks ass!

Good job ! The graphs are pretty good and the gameplay is fun to play.

In other hand the AI is not very agressive, it was easy to win against him.
Also, maybe the delay when blinking can be a little longer because I found it was not very efficient to take over the AI.

Last thing : sometimes, when trying to steal the AI's battery after shooting him, the battery was just pushed ahead and grabed by the enemy's HQ. Frustrating :p

But, overall, it is a very good game ! It was really fun, thank you for this moment ! Congrats !
(sorry for the approximative english, I have a lack of practice :p )

Hi @llamaq! Thanks for the feedback! We are glad you liked it. We are not sure if we will update the Power Brawler to a fully blown up game, but we'd like to address some of the issues. In any case you can follow the Ludum Dare website, our twitter accounts (@robersoca, @aaccensi and @pacogomezgrana) or my personal website http://www.robertocano.es (I hope it is OK to advertise it here). I don't publish often there but I'll definitely update it if we release the game somewhere

Hi @alwaysinbeta! Thanks for the comments! We really appreciate the warm welcome you are giving us guys! We had a lot of fun doing it but we also work really hard, so we are really happy you enjoyed it. We'll think about pushing it further. Please check my above comment for links where we would publish the reviewed game. Cheers!

Hi @yves! Thanks for the tip and the feedback! That is a very good suggestion. We will see why in map 2 it is more aggressive. Definitely not an explicitly implemented feature

Hi @furkanfs! Thanks a lot, we are thrilled that you are enjoying this guys, we enjoyed a lot doing it! The levels are not random generated. We spawn a quick level editor (ASCII based ), but random generation could be a cool feature to implement! Also perhaps community created levels??

Hi @alejandrodlsp! Thanks for the feedback! Yes, it seems the AI is not as strong as it could be. With a bit more time we could have improved it a bit more. Also we mainly tested one against each other, so we didn't fully polish the AI. Let's see if we have time to upgrade it. It could be a lot of fun!

Thanks @pcmaster!! It is awesome the response we are getting from you, guys! And I agree with you, the graphics are AWESOME!! (I didn't do them , but my teammates). I would love to participate again in Ludum Dare, although first we need to recover from this one! Cheers!

Hi @karreg! Your english is more than fine, so no worries! Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate! The AI part is indeed a weak point, as we didn't test it enough, but that could be something we eventually update. And yes, I know what you mean with the battery issue. It has happened to me several times since we published the game :joy: We'll definitely take it into account if we update the game. Cheers!

Hi all! I definitely want to try all the games from people posting here. You are great guys and I'd love to see your hard work. I've already seen some of them and
it is great to see so many different ideas and approaches. Currently I'm traveling so it will be difficult for me to check them, but rest assured I will play them before the voting phase finishes  Thanks for being so awesome!!!

Really fun game! Nice graphics. I do find that it's not worth it to steal the battery from the AI. By the time I get in position to shoot him, grab the battery, he's awake, putting him in excellent position for the next battery. I also wished I could walk through him without knocking him into the battery. Love the music as well.

Funny!
Levels with 2 battery strange, i always have 1-1. I think 1 or 3 battery - better

Good game feel and music. The only issue i came with was the fullscreen thing, the game by default clipping the content until i full screen, and then back to normal. Reminds me with some nice pixel art games from the past couple of years.

very fun game concept. The art is very readable. The music add to the tension of the game.
Could be even more fun with more players.

@mamoniem you are right. We realized late and didn't know how to fix that for WebGL. It is not game breaker but it is annoying. We'll have a look to see if we can fix that. Thanks!!

@bombjack we actually wanted to develop it for 4 player, but we run out of time

Love the concept and i think it fits perfectly with the theme! Cool music, one problem is that the resolution of the menu is messed up in the webgl version.Great game.

This is awesome! Solid, simple concept that anyone can understand (although basic Capture the Flag isn't too innovative), intuitive controls, great audiovisual feedback on every action. The sounds are very fitting and motivating, and the graphics do their job well. The maps are diverse and the AI is well balanced. I found using a controller harder than the keyboard, and I sometimes found it confusing that the bullets have the same velocity as the player (they become invisible when running in the same direction as the bullet). The implementation of the theme is kind of secondary on this one, but that doesn't really matter if the game is good. Thanks for making this, I really enjoyed it! :)

I imagine it's a lot more fun playing against an actual opponent because it was way too easy against the AI. Very well put together, though!

The AI is quite good and the level design is great.

@schu it is indeed way more fun against people, the AI was a necessity so everyone could get a glimpse of the gameplay. Thanks for your feedback :)

@kubenexion We fell a bit short in terms of AI difficulty and the number of levels cause of time restrictions but we might improve it for a post JAM version
🎤 Andreu
09. Aug 2017 · 15:08 UTC
@phi we tried to balance gameplay on the short time for testing we had and fast bullets were too punishing in such a small levels so we decided to make them slower than a character without battery but faster than one carrying a battery.

Innocently looking game that turns into absolute beast when it comes to its core gameplay. I just can't have enough at it. As far as suggestions go, do you think you could add some kind of "king-of-the-hill" mode with several players/bots? Pure madness. Pure fun.

And thanks for the controller support!
🎤 Andreu
10. Aug 2017 · 20:51 UTC
Thanks @shess! If it receives enough love we will definitely give some love back :) Meaning some more polish, levels, maybe 4 players? other modes like the one you suggest?

Top-notch presentation with excellent graphics, sound, etc. The main mechanic seems simple but the strategy is actually a bit more complex than you'd think. If there's one thing I'd improve, it's the enemy AI. In vs. CPU mode it's a little too easy to beat, although this would be less of a problem in multiplayer.

My word this is amazingly done. The art style is excellent and well-executed and the game's mechanics do a good job of backing it up. The controls and projectiles felt very solid and punchy (though my bot always would go kinda haywire during the victory screen.) I wish I had a friend around to play this with. As it was, I learned to exploit the AI's docility, and the last couple maps were complete stomps in my favor. My favorite map was the one with both power stations in the middle and the batteries in the corners. I like how it encouraged a different kind of interaction than the convention followed by the other four. All in all, I had a blast playing this. Well done!
