I Don't Trust This Food, Man by Jack_SGS

[raw]
made by Jack_SGS for LD35 (JAM)
Starting off based on the concept of identifying a shape shifter in a group of very similar looking people, IDTTFM didn't stick that closely to the theme, but did end up being quite a fun little game.

The aim is to sort the 'trustworthy' food-headed men from the untrustworthy shapeshifters, and all you need are your left and right keys!

I had planned to try and add a few more stages, but in the end I felt this was the best end-product I could have within the 48 hours.

Because the UI gets so horribly confused, I've restricted it to 16:9, but maybe I'll come back and change that. Similarly, I had planned to add touch support for mobile/tablet, but that ended up being a bit too ambitious, so I've only got builds for desktop.

Hope you enjoy giving it a go, and if you manage to get a gold medal consider yourself a great judge of food-head character!

Super funny idea! I included it in my video compilation series of Ludum Dare games, if you’d like to check them out :) https://youtu.be/PdAuylbesI0

An extremely catchy little game, though a little untrustworthy of the developer with there only being ONE LEVEL (gasp). I'd absolutely adore this as a mobile app, but I'm also one of those people that'll go for gold on anything (and achieve it, yo).

Played it in my stream @ 12:50: http://www.hitbox.tv/video/991443

Definitely one of the funniest entries I've played, but I don't trust the use of the theme...man.

5/5 for humor :P - "I Don't Trust This Food, Man" is a fantastic title, and the whole game is hilarious. I loved all of the sound effects, and I thought that there was so much polish that everything seemed to flow really well.
One small critique is that when the player is awarded medals, the medals cover the player's time score, so it is a little hard to see how fast the player completed the game.
Great job!

Loved the rather surreal humour and completely strange premise.

Fun, and weird. The shape shift tie-in is a little unclear, but whatever.
Make more levels...man. :)

I've never laughed so hard at a Ludum Dare game before. Simple starting the game was a hilariously unexpected and delightful experience. Love the overall style!

That donut guy, oh man... This game is great. It's interesting that despite only having one level, some of the trusted foods are much harder than the others, so each time you retry it's like playing a different level. But it's tough to get that gold even with the easier foods! I had to settle for silver :(

Hahaha, this is so weird! I feel like you probably could have just made the game infinitely restart with random "trusted" guys and we probably would never have known the difference as far as the "only one level" thing.
