Self Golf by SecondDimension
This game wants to ask you one question... do you Self Golf?
Self Golf is a platforming golf game where you are the ball, and the only way to jump is to hit yourself with your golf club. Everything was made by me in 48hrs, and all controls are explained in the tutorial.

A little bit sluggish in my notebook, but that's probably my open Unity Editor's fault here.
I'll give it a go in my desktop later.
Congratulations! :D
I don't really see the need for the main character to move.
Very satisfying sound when you hit yourself.
The levels get a bit dull, would like some different colours on the levels. Tint the images differently?
THe golf ball looks a bit grumpy, fits the game really good :smiley_cat:
It is not so fun to play, ball itself does not act like ball.
Something there is missing for me, but dont know what.
@persijn - I agree about the level designs, they are all very similar, but honestly that was just a time thing. I may work on this more and do levels with different themes and more scenery. Also the reason the character moves was the same point as above - this was meant to be half platformer and half golf, so that's why the character has a little bit of platform movement as well. Also thanks for noticing the hit sound, I spent ages tweaking that!
@Bruce @Harry-Light - I have added a link to the game without the WebGL CRT shader, this should make it run quicker and also work on older browsers. If you're having trouble and you have time, maybe give that a try instead.
@F1Krazy @quixatocs @Jiri-Hysek @Adam-Wallberg - thank you all for the kinds words!
Love the graphics, cute little guy :-)
Love the music, love the sound effects, especially the applause after each hole :-D
Very nice concept, interesting what you can do just by using the left mouse, you can get very creative to lower your score. This definitely makes for a great replay value.
Overall a great game, really cool, you have my respect! :-)
Just a small thing, but sometimes I found I made extraneous shots because I couldn't see a bit further to the left or right. Have you thought of adding camera movement to allow the player to see the level a bit better?
Great job!

Best score so far: -21! When you understand all the mechanics, you can indeed do some pretty smart step. 5/5 :v:
It would have been nice to forbud pushing the ball until it was stopped !
Good job !
Problem for me - can't feel the power of ball. Despite of how long arrow, my ball ALWAYS fly with the same speed. Maybe a bug. So I can't finish 3-d level. Stupidly can't jump up...
What I would have really loved would be that we only could hit ourselves.
I mean, I was way above the score (approximately -12 in a few holes) and then I started trying stuff, and I found it really fun to hit yourself even while still airborne. It made me think about whole new stuff like speedruns and such. Really a ton of possibilities, so great entry there, well done.
Thanks to all of you for the nice comments!
@samuel-henderson @saintheiser It sounds like you were both experiencing a bug with the movement, I'm not sure why that would be as most players have no trouble. With so many browser, mouse and O/S combinations it's tough to test and troubleshoot rare bugs :frowning2:
@biobazard I did think about that, but it was kind of stupid fun to keep hitting yourself in the air, so I left it in.
@yozamu @kamtar A lot of people have said they'd prefer not to have the side-to-side movement. The problem is that without this, it was mostly just a golf game, instead of a combination of golf and platforming. I think if I do a post compo version I will remove this extra movement.
The physics are clunky, but at the same time make the game sooo funny <3
I made a golf game too, [if you want to check it out!](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/ace-golf-blade-brawlers)

This is quite probably my favourite entry so far! It definitely received the highest ratings I've given, that's for sure. The main concept is great, but in addition to that the entire game just feels incredibly complete and polished with high quality assets and lovely details. <3
You've really gotten the audio down, for one. It reminds me a lot of other golf games. The applause after finishing a level is like having a cherry on top and the music is just so cozy and relaxing. The actual golf sounds are on point as well.
Same goes for the graphics. I definitely noticed all the little details such as the flowers moving in the wind and the little bees buzzing about to help sell that outdoors golf feeling. I could almost smell the grass! Lucky I'm not allergic!
I didn't even realise there was a scoreboard until I'd finished the 18 holes. I looked at my score and thought to myself "that's pretty okay, isn't it?". I've never really played golf besides minigolf more than half a lifetime ago and I never really learned what par and so on means, so I wasn't sure. Seems it was indeed an okay score?! :D
Gorgeous game. Loved it! <3
I just wish that the hold right click was cancellable (or that the power keeps oscillating instead of saturating at maximum value). I also had some problems with clicking out of the game bounds on the browser. I also found the physics of hitting a ceiling a bit weird since I was expecting to bounce at reflection angle but the ball just bounce downwards instead. I also wish for a way to take zoomed out look at the whole level in order to plan my shots. Sorry for complaining a lot but I really enjoyed the game a lot so I couldn't help but nitpick at every little problem I had.
The other aspects of the game are really great. The graphics is great, the subtle CRT effect is nice and the music is nice and calm. The levels are also fun and well designed. Great job.
@Ava-skoog I think -13 is pretty good score, anything under zero is good! I can usually get around -20 or so, but only because I have played it so much during testing. I think the technically perfect achievable score is -32, but I have never managed it. So glad you liked the music and thought it was relaxing, that was the vibe I was going for. Anyway thank you so much for the nice comments, I really appreciate it!
P.S> It'd be great if you could check out my game too -
