Escape by Tamas Turi

[raw]
made by Tamas Turi for LD 39 (JAM)

Humanity is extinct, the earth is in ruins, only a few robots survived, get to your spacecraft to escape.

Solve the obstacles on the track, but beware of your constantly decreasing energy level. Fortunately, you can still find working charging stations where you can charge up the energy level.

Controls

  • A move backwards
  • D move forward
  • SHIFT run
  • E use

Map Elements

Charging Station: If entering your maximum energy will be charged. At this point there is a checkpoint too.

Box: You can push and pull boxes, if you are close enough to it, hold down E

Switch: Switches can activate elements on the map. There are 3 types: - constantly active - active until you hold down E - timed

Pressure Switch: Your character or any movable element can activate, if it is on the switch

Generator: You can charge from your own energy

Game is pretty nice, great job. Reminded me of Machinarium in a way. I had couple of problems I would like to share.

- I got stuck upon Down sigh before making the platform go up and down.
- After getting to the save point down there and you die getting past this area the platform does not move anymore and cant go anywhere then.
- Jumping is pretty difficult, at least a charge and release type of high jump would solve the problem I guess, run-jump did not change much for me.

Great art and really nice mood! I just wish walking sound could be a little more varied. Looking at the screenshots I initially thought it was a point and click quest, but it turned out to be even better! I really liked some of the puzzles, not that hard as they are, sometimes solutions were unexpected and surprising for me.

The art there is pretty solid! And the mood is on point. Also, I had fun playing the game. Really nice job for such a short period

The graphics is on par for a game that has been made in 3 days. The art style has been implemented in an excellent manner, which strongly complements the theme and the mood of the game. Really great!

Your graphic style looks very nice and fits to the concept of the game. The squeaking sound, when the roboter is moving, is very nice and also a little painful, but that's okay for an old roboter :)
At one point I unintended dropped a box into the water that I needed to go further - after dying the box was still lying in the water and I couldn't get it. Would be nice if the objects reset after dying.
But for only three days you've done a great job!

Really awesome game, especially for a jam - I'm really impressed by how much you guys managed to get in.

While the draining power fit the theme very well, it also felt like it detracted a bit from the Limbo-style puzzle solving, which is where I could see the appeal being. I'd like to see a future iteration with this mechanic implemented differently, or just removed entirely, as the puzzle platforming is the game's strength.

There are also a few things that aren't reset on a restart, which sometimes results in impossible to solve situations. That's something that you can iron out fairly easily though. Awesome stuff!

Like others, I also got stuck when a box I needed was lost to the waves. But until then, the game was good! Nice atmosphere, impressive sound and graphics, was not expecting a physics engine at all. Thumbs up.

Great work here, the graphic style is really good and create a really good mood for the game. I appreciated a lot the in-game tutorial, it's simple and clear. The game mechanic is nice, and the energy depletion add a layer of urgency to the game. I appreciated a lot the color fading shaders when death is coming closer, is a really great touch! One thing I didn't appreciated is the fact that the levels don't resets themselves after death (only the player gets repositioned). It felt expecially wrong when I got stuck in the wrecking ball part, I gave up on the third restart of the game from the beginnig!
The game overall is really enjoyable, has a grat graphic and have a lot of nice details, nice work!

The theme was cool, the constant power drain was a bit of a drag when the player wasn't moving, especially when having to wait for the moving platforms.
