Verto by Gordy

Hi! I made a little (but very buggy) prototype for roguelike game where every time you shoot you have to sacrifice one life. But sadly there was not much time and I could not work on this jam as much as I wanted to. :slightfrown: I hope you will still enjoy this little prototype and I will continue to work on this little project!
CONTROLS:

I do feel like it's an interesting concept but it needs some work. You should probably try to place the player where he/she is safe at the start of the game. There are a few times where I would just instantly die because of enemies being right near me.

Game review: The game seems to end after 30 seconds of gameplay..
I have killed every enemy and no more are spawning. pls fix!
Also, it's funny to have a game called Verto which is principally in shades of pink/purple !
it was missing a nicer background and musics.
Nice Jobs =)
As for the game concept, it's a nice simple showcase of an interesting game mechanic, but as you noted, it needs more context. I'd use this to increase the feeling of tension on the player (i.e. as a temporary "powerup", or "curse") or to build a certain rhythm in the pacing of the action (i.e. if the player has low max but fast-recharging hp).
If you go forward with it, try to take a step back and consider how you can use the mechanic to drive the game, and generate specific thoughts/feelings in the player =)
