Townofsalem_menu.jpg

The town is in trouble! It has way too many items and all the buildings are messy like never before. You have to command the villagers to clean all the buildings but there is one problem though. Well, some love it even if it's a huge problem because the problem is caused by the santa! They give too many presents to everyone and that's why the town is overflowed! So hurry up and get rid of all the stuff before the town becomes even more overflowed!!!

Instructions:

Your task is to get rid of as many items as possible from the town.

1) Drag with your mouse to select several villagers.

2) Rightclick on a house that has lots of items in it to make the villagers get rid of them.

Buildings that have too many items will explode.

Villagers becomes frustrated when they have too many items or when buildings explode.

You can hire new villagers for $15.

You get $ for each item your villagers removes.

The game ends when the town has reached its maximum frustration level or when your town has blown up.

Install xnafx40_redist.msi if the game doesn't launch correctly.

Changes:

2017/12/05: I did some small changes to balance the game. No features were added. Just changed some values.

That was really hectic but fun! I love the little dialogues they have.

This was really fun! It reminded me of my entry, I love that you can finish a run in some minutes. Good job!

Pretty solid entry. It was really hard to keep track of the houses, maybe a little less houses would've sufficed.. I like the pace of this otherwise. Sounds would have been nice, they could've really contributed to the gameplay. Overall quite good job though!

I sadly didn't have time to make the sound. But I totally agree!

Fun, but very hectic right from the start. I also kept clicking on the blocks rather than the house on them, so might have been good for that to be part of the button, or maybe I'm just an idiot...

It took a moment to realise that you can scroll up and down, beside that it is a solid game.

Lol, you can scroll sideways too XD

No offense =)

Well that depends on your screen resolution

This wasn't great. Also, it was pretty much impossible to control. Maybe make villagers slower and houses fill up slower?

As an artist who hasn't the fainest idea how to code, I can see how the technical part of this must have been challenging to say the least. I like games where you balance things and manage people, and this certainly does that.
As someone going into this blind however, it took me 3 turns to figure out what i was doing, but that was partly my own fault for my distrust of instructions :p. But perhaps less houses to manage would have been better for new players, and the indicators on the houses I feel should have been a stronger colour or colour changing.
But I think it's a great example of what can be accomplished in the limited time, and it does it's core mechanic very nicely, well done.

A little game but well executed. It is stressfull and very challenging and some things could use some polish. The bottom houses are a little difficult to track as the "Hire Cleaner" button is on the way of the eye. The Santas usually join to attack the same house and you can't do anything to stop them and prevent them destroy the house. The game is very punishing (even in the post-compo) and the frustration bar fills very quick. Maybe some time at the start with fewer santas and less frustration could make the player understand the game and plan a strategy. Liked the mood and the drag to select mechanic, pretty decent work mate.

Good game mechanic! I enjoy these maintenance type of games. It gets a bit dull after a while but its a good base for a bigger game!
