made by Lamossus for LD 44 (JAM)

You're in a middle of a war. No one remembers why it started. No one knows when it will end. Human lives are just another expendable resource here. Your goal is to win by capturing all important points before the enemy no matter what.

All art is done by Esus and all music is done by Cyber Night both of whom agreed to participate with me in Ludum Dare but don't have LD accounts.

Your goal is to capture all 4 points on the map. To capture points end your turn while your soldiers are near the flag. The more soldiers you have on the point the faster it will be captured. Every turn each captured point gives you money. All units also drop money on death. You can spend money to hire new units.

Camera is moved by A/D keys.

Summary of all units in order of their appearence in the shop in the bottom left corner of the screen: 1. Heavy - has most health. Unlike other characters can shoot multiple times on one turn but has to sacrifice his mobility until the end of the turn in order to do so. 2. Good Boy - quickest unit in the game. Can bite enemies causing them to bleed until they are healed by medic or blow up explosives on it's back to destroy everything aroung including covers and walls. Doesn't count when capturing points. 3. Sniper - more accurate on bigger distances. Can deal massive amounts of damage and gains even higher accuracy and damage when passes a turn without moving or shooting. 4. Trooper - cheapest and weakest minion. Beats enemies with quantity, not quality. 5. Engineer - can build extra defences for the point with his mines, covers and walls. His second ability is a hit with a wrench that can stun opponents causing them to skip next turn. 6. Medic - heals units and cures their bleeding. Also has a pistol that can be used on short distances for offence.

Very interesting game. The strategy elements are good and well done. I think the game needs two things the most. One is a tutorial level, because I don't want to read an essay on how to play. The other is that the game has to be faster. I don't want to follow every move of every enemy unit, just so i could play another turn.

As @wie said, the game needs a tutorial, although I read the rules on this page it was hard to do, also there was a moment in which I had a "trooper" in the top and couldn't move it or attack anyone, also, how are the coins acquired, only through killing enemy troops or every turn you get one? If it had clear rules it would be a good strategy game, but as of now it can't because I don't know what I can or can't do.

Anyways, if you can explain to others how your game works in a mini tutorial it will improve a lot the experience. Good work and cheers!

@hestrateja each captured point gives you 1 coin every turn. I'll look into the bug, I'm pretty sure I know why it occured but if you could tell me a bit more specific about where it happened it would be great

EDIT: The bug SHOULD be fixed by now

The mechanics are well made but it would be cool if there was the option to fasten up the enemy turn : )

Hey congrats on crossing the finish line! Couple of things I would change in this one. More player feedback for sure, I was lost on what I was doing going into it. It took some clicking around to understand majority of what was going on. Once I was able to move I wasn't sure how many points I was obtaining when capturing a flag. I also wasn't sure how close I needed to be.

Overall a good entry!

A very interesting and ambitious project for a three day gamejam. Strategy is admittedly not a genre I am good at but most of the issues with this game I can identify are issues with conveyance to the player. It took a long time to figure out what I was doing since I was dropped into the middle of the war without any context. As stated by other users, A tutorial is needed, especially for an RTS!

More feedback for player actions would have been nice. The lack of a sound effect made it difficult to tell if I'd hit my enemy (or been hit myself) until one of them turned into a coin. An option to skip or hasten the enemy turn would be nice. And if possible, Jump the camera back to the players side of the map to let them know the enemies turn is over.

Your art was very cool in a John Carpenter kind of way. The music loop got a little grating fairly quickly although it fit the mood.

Again, I want to stress that this was very ambitious for the time given! Great job!
