Story:

You are a robot in experiments designed to test whether a robot with AI can end challenging routes before it has run out of limited energy.

The theme (Sacrifices must be made) within the game:

Anything you do in the game (including walking) lowers the limited amount of energy you have, to finish the game you have to sacrifice energy to continue.

Gameplay tutorial:

1. Use the arrow keys to move (note that walking lowers the energy too).

2. To recharge the energy, you need to touch the charger.

The charger: Layer 1.png

3. Note that the energy meter is located in the upper left corner of the screen.

4. If you touch the laser, you will lose energy.

The lasers: The_lasers.png

5. If one of the shots of the machine gun will hit you you will lose energy.

The bullets:

6. To go to the next level, just touch the teleporter at the end of the level.

The teleporter: Teleporter.png

7. To accept options in the menus just press the ENTER or the 'Z' key, to scroll up and down use the UP and DOWN arrow keys.

General goal:

Reach the launcher at the end of each stage before you run out of energy.

Problems:

A little disclaimer - Even though we participated in the Jam (the 72 hours challenge) we couldn't work for 24 hours so the game did not come out as good as we wanted

Graphic problems:

The UI, it's terrible! - We couldn't make it to the UI part of the pixel art, yes,we were THAT slow in pixel art.

Programming problems:

1. No progress saving system, why?!?!? - There was a saving system but it was very problematic and we had to remove it.

2. Use the teleporter - If the player hasn't moved to the next level as soon as he touches the launcher then try to touch the center of the launcher to teleport to the next level.

We hope you enjoy our game, hopefully we'll see you there! :)

This game was fairly fun to play as an exploration based puzzle game, but falls short in terms of fitting the theme. Unfortunately I just can't see how losing energy from damage and from walking is really a sacrifice. Some of the pixel art in the game feels a bit lacking but can be excused because of the lack of time. As a general statement I think that power stations are placed in odd intervals. I found that my power would sometimes be 7/10 when I reached a new one and sometimes it would be 1/10. Additionally, in the last level I found that by just pushing the box to the right without stopping you would be able to reach the next power station before you died, making the level feel a bit boring. Finally, I think that replacing the power number at the top left with a bar changing size and colour above your head would be a nice alternative. Overall the game was OK and I think that mixing the power draining aspect with the exploration was a very good idea. The controls were solid and I never had a problem with the collision on objects. The levels were open yet still had a good sense of direction, I never felt like I didn't know what I had to be doing. A few adjustments to the game and some general polish would do this game well.

That's a cool little game, but I think I missed the sacrifice part…

Anyway, the music is cool, the graphics are a bit simple, but correct and understandable.

The robot is pretty maneuverable, and the levels seems balanced !

I liked the game and the graphics were good. I found it a bit boring because of how slow it was.

Fun puzzle game! I think it would be nice if the levels were designed to be a bit more tight - basically place the chargers to I really have to think through how I'm traversing the level otherwise I'm out of energy. I found in most cases I could make tons of mistakes and still have enough energy to reach the next charger.

Interesting premise for the sacrifice theme. The hallways were very long which resulted in the player not having a good overview of the puzzles and it also made traveling time very long.

Cool entry and I like that there is audio that suits the game. A little frustrating to have to replay several times and the levels are a bit expansive BUT a good entry :) Echoing some of the comments above on how it fits the theme a bit but its a nice presentation. Well done!

Thank you all for the positive comments :) . Yes,we know that the game doesn't exactly match the theme but that was the only idea we could really do in terms of time. As for the level design, it's really strange and not so balanced. Only at the end we saw that the speed of the robot is too slow relative to the size of the levels.

Wow, you lost 24 hours of work-time and you still submitted!? Great job! I think your game fits the theme very well. Sacrifice doesn't have to be obvious sheep slaughtering or throwing people down shafts!

Great game, simple & cute art!

Fun idea, although not really a nice fit to the theme. I found the game very easy, I managed to beat the game without dying, simply because there were chargers all over the place.
It felt unpolished, but not uncommon in the dares (Our game this year is very rough :P ). There were some decent elements in the game, but the game was just too easy.
A bit of polish, and some more complex levels, and this could be entertaining to play once in a while.

Thanks for sharing your game.

The concept for the game is cool, i like the way you've imagine the theme of sacrifices transforming it into energy.
Although the graphics are too simple, are understoodable, but i think the little movements of the robot sprites are too much subtle. Even so it's a good job in general

Cool short game, but it seems there is no particular shortage of energy. It is necessary to increase the damage traps.

Not sure if I am doing something, or I hit a bug. But after I get to the teleport nothing happens.

Btw music is really catchy. :)

@flcx, we have covered it in the problems section, try to touch the center of the teleporter until it's teleports you,if that not working try to run the game again

Got it, it worked after restart.
Nice game, but consider making the puzzles a bit harder. Maybe you could add some mechanic where you could spend some of your energy for operating door, switch, etc. It would fit nicely into the theme.

That was a neat, short, fun game straight to the point. I liked your incorporation of the theme and the minimal pixel art. Also, the music fit the tone of the game. However, colliding with lasers was pretty annoying. Other than that, well done!

Only real improvement would be making the levels a bit shorter or making the player faster. But good job overall, works well with the theme.
