Reptile Politik by aegypticus

made by aegypticus for LD35 (COMPO)
Hey! This is my first Ludum Dare and my first completed game. I only had the daylight of Sunday to really work on this, so therefore the audio and finer details suffered. Nevertheless, I hope that you all enjoy my game!

-------

Reptile Politik is a game in which you play a politician who is holding a press conference. But, you are no politician at all! You are a reptilian overlord who is trying to steer the globe towards a New World Order.

You're new to this, so, you are constantly making mistakes that make the crowd suspicious of your reptilian heritage. See how high of a score you can get before you inevitably reveal your true identity!

-------

Instructions:

Lettered tiles will appear for a few seconds, hit the corresponding key before it moves away, otherwise people will become suspicious of you!

Controls:

English Alphabet on a qwerty keyboard. (I'm not sure if it works on non-standard english keyboards)

-------

Good Luck and have fun! Please give me feedback! It's all appreciated. Also, congrats to everyone who managed to make an entry.

My high score is 69 as of right now. Please post your high score too!

Hey, another Love2D Programmer! I made mine in Love2d. :)

Cute little game. Took me a sec to figure out what was going on, but I mean that literally - just a sec. Good job. :)

Congrats on finishing your first ludum dare! I loved the concept, very funny. Really difficult to hit the keys in time! I thought I was a fast typer. :-)

The A and the R look pretty close for such a fast-paced game

very hard, found the best strategy was just to mash all the keys on the keyboard haha.

I had a hard time hitting the keys but I love the sound design, very simple but effective. Not sure if there was a penalty for mashing the wrong keys, it didn't seem like there was. Great art and fun for a quick go.

Gratz with your first LD, I am on the same boat.
I find your game nicely drawn and the idea good but it's very very hard.

Great story! :) I like the concept a lot. Wish you had more time than a single day so there'd be more to play! :)

I'm too embarrassed to post my high score but let's just say I barely hit double figures. :)

This is a smart, fun little game with a nice take on the theme. I really enjoyed playing!

Very hard lol, but I like style. Falls a bit off the theme though. Great job anyway.

That's pretty harder on a non-qwerty keyboard (azerty here!). I like those pixels though :)

Wonderful concept, and the art has great character (Also you pointed out my game not running and it is fixed now, I'd for you to give it a second try!) Also props to being another Max Löve dev like myself : )

Cool concept but it seems like I'm way to slow of a typer to play that game :)

This was really fun as well as funny, and had just the right amount of challenge despite the simple concept. Great work!

I enjoyed this! I loved the mechanic (maybe a little bit too fast at the beginning? It could work if it started slower and got faster), the artstyle and the reptilian politician setting. :)

Nice work, and congrats on your first Ludum Dare! I really like the artwork, and it was really funny watching the character slowly turn into a lizard (though I had to focus on the letters).

Aww yiss, 112 points! I knew my touch-typing skills would come in handy one day. 10/10 would enslave humanity to serve reptile-kind again.

Best political simulator of 2016!

Very good game, I've got a high-score of 7 and nearly smashed my keyboard. I love the pixel-art and the details of mutating progress :)
