Back with a new GemToy™ Entry!

This time, the theme is to mix genres so I'm making a Turned-Base Racing game !

screen01.png

Up = accelerate

down = decelerate/go back)

left/right = turn

A = validate

B = reset

Start = Exit menu

PS: don't push the power button, it's gonna crash (sorry)

******** ATTENTION ********

Now availiable : PC version, it's the same entry, I didn't correct any bugs, I didn't touched nothing. But be aware, that it was just for my own testing purpose, the graphics are half smaller and the grid effect is more present.

PC controls: A = Space / B = Ctrl / Start = Shift Up, Down, Left, Right = Keyboard Arrows

My bad, it wasn't set as "public"... Here I was complaining about poor number of ratings. XD What an idiot.

Oh!! It's just awesome. I like this sort of stuff : when people create an old school style games))). For Commodore64 or when the create the feeling, just like you. It's nostalgic feeling, when you play this type of games. Continue :)

Cool idea! Took a while to get the hang of the controls but it's great fun once you get going, and surprisingly difficult. Really like the graphics. Some audio/music would be nice but other than that, great effort!

@Toryf yep, but I made availiable a PC testing version, for those who don't have android phones.

I really like your art style. Feel like playing the old Pokemon on Gameboy.
We also make a cinematic game with pixel art. Mind to check it out : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/daxua

@Harry Jacobs I played around a bit with the dificulty settings but I suppose, after playing that much, I became too good at my own game ! Track 01 is still pretty hard tho, because it's so simple, the AI crush it.

I know, I wish I had time to put some sound into it, but I was alone for this jam. I decided, I'd rather make a game that's somewhat playable and leave the sound behind than trying to do everything.

This is a cool prototype! The aesthetic is great. Making it turn-based made it surprisingly difficult. I bet this would be very fun with kart racer-style items.

It would help if it calculated the speed and rotation more quickly, since it slows down how quickly you can take turns.

@Dovakla Thanks for the feedback! What do you mean by "it slows down how quickly you can take turns" ?
I wanted to make a system that calculates your next move instantly but I couldn't do the math, so it's a simulation. Originally it was even slower.

@5you The animations of how the speedometer cycles up every time you change it and how it redraws the line slows down how quickly you know what'll happen. Also, I probably should have made it clear that I mean turns of the game and not making the car turn.

Cool game. I would like if there were more crazy options like shunting and power slides, but the concept is solid and the game is fun as is. Nicely done :)

Neat concept. I like the mobile interface, so don't mind if I see how doing something like that works for me. ;)
Anyways, the graphics are pretty solid, I played it on PC, and it played smoothely. I would have absolutely loved it much more if there was music, but I understand this is a jam so great job overall!

Yeah artstyle is pretty good and unique, the theme idea you have is really good but cause its a turn based racing game it feels very slow and there is three laps around the same course can get boring. Still good job on the game. I think you got your 20 votes needed.
