Wow, such a innovative idea, beautiful painting skills and stresslessness. :) Plus: the main character is cute!

Absolutely loved it! Great combination of art, music and story.

Best Aspects:
- All the cute drawings :)
- The psycho trip
- The whole atmosphere

Tips:
- The progression seemed a bit unclear at times and I'm not sure if I have seen all the paths (especially in the psychadelic world where not every path is linear) and it's a shame to miss a page :). Maybe place markers at locations to a new page or give page numbers/count of how many you've visited out of all of them.

All in all one of the best games I've seen this LD so far!

What a way to do the theme! I would have never thought on doing this! Kudos to you guys!
Beautiful pictures, the atmosphere and the multiple routes really make it feel like a complete game.
I now really want to see more of these types of games in the future!

So for the entire game, I played with a childlike smile on my face. Beyond the up/down/ascend/descend mechanic (that was repeated a few a times), there were a few levels that incorporated the description of the text in to the level that made me grin-from-ear-to-ear. I won't ruin it for anyone because everyone should play this game. I absolutely loved every second that I played and would easily purchase a retail version that incorporated the text even more (like a level with a door and you have to use the 'key' text to get a key or like a level with a word avalanche when talking about the character slipping down a hill). Totally got a "Tales of" feel from the soundtrack too.

I ate the berries and loved it!!!!! 10/10 would play again.

Only thing was when i played there appeared to be a bug for walking to the left - the graphics didn't show up only a "missing image" icon.

I'm not sure where to start with my praise for this, it's such an excellent idea and so well executed. I love the hand-drawn (or seemingly so?) art and the way the words are arranged around it gives extra life to both. The music is the perfect compliment to them as well. It really feels like moving around inside a book. I guess my only criticism would be that I wanted to see every page, and not being able to undo a choice made that difficult at times :stuck_out_tongue:

Very interesting and good game. I played through it twice to get to see different parts and I must say I think the is genuinely a very good idea to build something upon. The text, maybe particularly the font and the solid blackness of the color felt a bit off with style the game and the content (maybe make it partially transparent and not perfect black, and shop around for fonts?). In contrast, the word "RUINS" that you screenshot above felt more like how the text should interact with the story. It would have been very fancy if the text was moving and such on some of the dreamy parts. The controls of the character and how the ends of the more abstract levels were indicated could be worked on. But now it's starting to sound like I was displeased. And that I wasn't, it was a really marvelous entry. Very well done!

One of the most memorable and unique entry I've seen. That's a cute idea with a nice execution. Sometimes I struggled a bit in the progression but anyway this is wonderful game to feel like a child again :)

You guys genuinely need to advertise your game and rate other games because its a real shame your game is not receiving more attention during this LD because its phenomenal. Possibly has the most character out of any game that I played during this LD.

The music, art and gameplay all come together well in this game. It makes me wonder what it could look like, if you spent more time polishing it and expanding on the story. As a game mechanic, reading the platformer while you play is great!

Love how you weave the story and text into the gameplay. :) Would love to see more games like this.

Really neat idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIle2FLl2RM

How does the jumping work? The jump height seems really inconsistent for some reason I can occasionally jump high enough to reach get up text in the first choice but most of the time there's no way to reach it.

@Unentokku Thank you for your feedback! We worked on the jumping part for some time because we weren't happy initially. Eventually we settled for: the longer you press up, the higher you jump (to a certain limit of course).

@winniehell I guess there's something wrong with the way the game detects input since I was holding the button down but still randomly got different jump heights.
