For Lumdum Dare 41 I've decided to mix Modern Military FPS with Arcade Bowling.

Note: I used pre-made 3D assets so please don't rate the game's graphics. Shout out to Sam Troth for the awesome desert environment models.

When i saw the title I was really hoping we were gonna have to throw bowling balls into pins faces before they shot us or something but this was pretty cool too. I just REALLY wish that the big red oil drums exploded when a grenade went off next to them

About the same as I'd get in real life bowling.

This was a fantastic game. It's just my kind of silly. Bowling but with grenades would have been fantastic on it's own, but actually having the thing occur in a CoD-esque map was a touch of genius. Mechanically speaking, the game works great, and getting strikes feel so satisfactory. It's a bit hard to tell how charged the thing is because the reticle is so small, but it's not a major problem.

I only encountered a pair of frustrating elements. At one point, I couldn't even tell where were the pins, since the camera put me in the wrong position. And in another, I accidentally clicked while the camera was moving and my grenade went out flying in a random direction.

Regardless, excellent work. I'll be forwarding this one to my team and see if they check it out later on. Keep up the good work! :whale:

@GexAlmighty They do! You just need to nestle the grenade really close to them. When the grenade explodes there are 2 spheres that check for overlapping objects, one smaller one for destroying (and triggering barrel explosions) and one for adding some forces. Maybe I should be more generous with when barrels explode. ;)
Thanks for playing!

Now this is a bowling game I can get behind! A bit more polish and maybe a VR mode and it'll be good to go.

I just laugh when I saw the "bowling" I threw, it will be an absolutely fantastic game if players can interact more object like blow up the wall to let them fall!
Anyway, it's a really hilarious game! 🤣

I dig the idea. It was super fun and somewhat challenging to get good bounces on some frames. Well Done!

Hahahahah dude, this is awesome! I laughed so hard on the first grenade. It might be nice to have a trajectory guide or something for new players, some of the high shots were pretty difficult!

Cool idea, but I experienced a few bugs :(
* Teleporting around every time I jumped
* Pins disappearing/teleporting as soon as I threw the grenade
* Game didn't seem to end, but allowed me to keep throwing grenades

Would definitely benefit from a trajectory indicator but other a pretty solid fun experience - explosions where particularly satisfying

@Almax Yikes, I forgot to disable jumping. For some reason jumping teleports the player and spawns all the pins, that's crazy I'll have to look at why the code does that. Please give the game a shot without using spacebar, I'll throw up a bug fix when I've got some time.

I liked the idea :). I Was impressed by the details of 3D models but I see after that it's not yours ^^. BTW was fun to play and very polished :).
Feel free to look and vote for our entry not so polished than yours game made with Godot Engine: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/way-out

When I started getting the hang of it the explosions began to become very satisfying! haha I had some fun there x) Just seeing the pins' positions sometimes made me laugh, because it was so dissonant with the COD atmosphere (which you recreated very well, btw!). It's a pity it didn't have a background music / ambience sound. Nice level design, great job!

This was hilarious! The perfect tool for the job. Kind of made me think of Worms' grenades, which I could never use properly.

At first i was expecting this to be too easy, since these are grenades, but you surprised me by changing it up quite a bit with the different layout. My final score ended up being only 90, so i am officially just as bad at this as regular bowling :)

Hilarious combination, this is my kind of game! We made a FPS Golf game for the jam and we are currently working on a bowling game. The camera transitions from frame to frame were a really nice touch, and the way the pins break into rubble was very satisfying.

My expectations were high on the name and screenshot alone, and you completely surpassed them! :D Fantastic job on the art and lighting (I know those were choices, not things you made, but still!). Your use of the camera was absolutely perfect... it's what turned it from a "good idea" to a "good idea done well," IMO.

The only bug I found was that the last frame's pins didn't despawn after moving to the next spot. When I had a hilariously bad (zero pin) frame the last time, and a hard-to-see set of pins to go after, it made things confusing. Still! Very, very minor detail. I loved this jam game. :)

Awesome game! It was really fun to try to hit all the bowling pins. Sometimes it was a bit hard to judge on how far it would fly. A better indicator for this would have been helpful.

These Call of Duty graphics were perfect and I've never even played Call of Duty. I got a score of 31, but I assume that's because I suck at bowling in real life, so it's just realistic that these pins are so damn resilient.
