Feedback:
- I thought the inverse camera controls with WASD were weird. Took me a sec to get used to, perhaps this kind of shooting game is best controlled with a mouse.
- The projectiles don't always go towards the center where you aimed- Maybe it could have been more satisfying with raycast/hitscan type shooting. @kelbg mentioned this in their comment.
- might be helpful to have a game over screen where a player can review their score before restarting instead of doing it automatically
- I actually didn't understand the objective at first. Perhaps you can be more explicit in your description on how to play, ie. sacrificing a blue floof will destroy the blue spikes, sacrificing a pink floof will destroy pink spikes.
@kelbg - the faster the platform moves, the harder it is to shoot at them - sorry, I didn't see that bug when I was testing the game, unfortunately it wasn't intentional
@dougdevs - good idea to make game like ths controller with a mouse! I did it with arrows/WASD as it was something I already knew how to do it, it was like a default controls for me; great idea with raycast, I didn't think about that! you're also right about better description of the game, I will remember about it next time, thank you!
@theseusinabottle - I didn't think about choosing HTML5 for some reason, thank you for pointing it! you're right about the balls not being fired to the right place and floofs spawning on top of each other, next time I will try more on fixing such bugs
@cristiano-t - thank you!
You're all right that aiming wasn't too good, now I know what to focus on in my next game.
Controls could be improved a lot by using the mouse though.
Nice work!!! :muscle:
The only thing I saw was that the balls don't come centered at times...
Good job! :v:
The aiming got a little frustrating once the ship started moving faster.
2 day compo - pretty impressive. Great work!
Other than that, the game is simple but enjoyable for a couple minutes. As stated before, if this is your first (or near first) project on Unity, you should be proud ! Good job ! ;)
Also a counter of remaining floofs of each color would be very helpful.
Good start on a game though :)
A few thoughts: why not use the mouse for camera controls, rather than WASD? It feels a bit harder to control than it probably should be. Also, like some others have already mentioned, my projectiles had a tendency to veer to the left or right, causing me to hit floofs I didn't intend to.
Good stuff though!
But the camera movement and shooting isn't good. I prefer to use a mouse 🐭 🖱 🖲 to play
It also took a bit for me to understand that I was meant to shoot a floof, not the spikes, and unfortunately the bug with regards to aiming being off as the platform increases speed made it very hard to play. I could see this working well with a sort of Angry Birds style gameplay where you have to load the floof into a slingshot and aim+fire it at the target, to add some more depth to the sacrificing.
Somethimes all the floofs were on the same color.
Really well in the theme, you do feel that you are making sacrifices, poor floofs :(
Thank you so much for the feedback!
- Needs more feedback: game over situation, victory situation, good actions, bad actions... there are things that I don't really understand.
- Improve the controls, maybe instead to shot with space bar is better using left mouse button.
Overall is a good game. Keep it doing games! :left_facing_fist_tone3:
I confess the arcade-y feel is simple to learn, but also repetitive, and quick for one to get bored with. I get the sense the most amount of time was spent in graphics, which are quite polished for a compo.
