Ghosts by sunnray

[raw]
made by sunnray for LD 44 (COMPO)

In this world the only currency is memories. Everything can be bought, everything can be sold.

You are a ghost without memories of your own. So what do you do?

You take them from humans of course. It's not like they need that many anyway.

Not really very much in the way of gameplay,
though the audio did help with the lonely feel
and the graphics also helped bring that atmosphere across.

I guess the goal is to get the most postive - negative,
but it wasn't clear until I first saw the game end screen.

@mia-devs move with WASD, jump with Space, collect colorful things (memories) with left click. There is a goal at the end of the level.

I really liked the aesthetic. The main character looked really cool. The memories idea was cool. I didn't understand the goal (beyond clicking for memories). I did see the end screen.

I actually really liked this. There was a certain wistfulness and apathy to the style. I would work on adding a bit more depth to story. other than that, great job!

The mood is really nice. It was hard to tell what kind of memory I clicked on and what it did, and I wasn't sure how I managed to do the "important thing" to get to the end.

I can't quite figure out what the mechanics are yet but I managed to get an ending screen twice, I like how mysterious the mood is! it makes me want to figure out the exact mechanics.

I stopped by attracted by visual style and it is the same thing that kept me in the game being curious about what is the point. I managed to successfully end, I guess I know what the `important thing` is, I came back to try second time, but I cannot say it is easy or obvious. I missed some feedback of collecting memories, was not sure if I am doing right or not, also the trade.. I am not much expecting answer, maybe it would spoil something to others, but still not sure what the `trading` part is about at all. Anyway I like something about this entry

@onnofal trading is not a spoiler at all, you just exchange good memories for upgrades like speed or range. Thanks for the feedback!

I didn't understand the trader, and the first try I collected 130 memories and my screen turned totally gray. You can't really tell which memory is positive or negative. But the atmosphere was very well achieved, I felt lonely and and a bit sad while playing this. You have a talent to enhance the atmosphere so work on the gameplay part and you will get a very good game. Keep it up!

I really like the slow-paced music
I don't understand what is the trade i'm doing with shop guy... just loosing hard earned memories :/
I really the simple but polished graphics
I was able to go to end screen and I can tell that I didn't get the difference between good and bad...

Good entry on this LD ;)

I didn't really understand what was going on for most for it, but I liked the music :)

The style is really good but doesn't seem to have any meat in it.

Didn't really get the idea of the game at all, and had a lot of trouble clicking on the memories, but the music and the aesthetic were good...

You've set up a nice atmosphere with the visuals and music.

I like the concept and the memory collection sounds super promising on the game description, but I'm afraid that in practice it doesn't work out the same: it lacked visual feedback once you clicked on it to be sure that you'd actually collected (well, you can always look at the counter) and it was hard to tell which ones were positive and which ones negative. The results of trading weren't clear either beyond the fact that you spent some memories.

Unless there's any secret I think I reached the end screen :fish:

The game has potential if you can improve those bits. Good job!
