Loose Change by Tony Li

[raw]
made by Tony Li for LD 44 (JAM)

When you're a coin, your life isn't just currency. Currency is your life. A little quarter fell out of a boy's pocket and down the storm drain. Help the quarter get through the sewers and back to boy so it can full fill its mission in life!

NOTE: Play the Windows version if you can. It has nice intro and win videos that aren't working in the WebGL version.

This is the most literal interpretation of the theme I've seen so far. Nice game! Though I got stuck at the end and let Bowser-rat kill me.

The idea of being a less expensive coin each time is cool. At some point the coin gets bigger. Its weirs, I guess in your country it makes sense, but for me I would have expected the coin to always get smaller or change color. Maybe if all cons had the printed value... Don't know.

About the physics: Its cool when it accelerates in the slopes, but the jump feels like it is underwater.

The web version of the game loads very slowly. Controls are good, but i would like to be able to move the player even when jumping, because for example now you can't jump over boxes without getting some speed, and that is a bit annoying. It's difficult to know what hurts you and what doesn't, i just landed on a branch and almost died. I like the graphics and sound though, and it's an innovative platformer with cool and fresh level design!

I actually like the graphics. Getting enough momentum but not too much is kinnd of hard sometimes. I would like for it to be zoomed out more so I could see much easier where I was going. Is there an actual ending? Did not know what to do after the rats.

Funny to see people confused by the size, welcome to Murica. I agree that the game for a little bit too zoomed for the speed you are able to achieve. The interpretation of the theme is neat and I appreciate the simplicity and randomness of the whole idea.

Great music! Even as an American it still felt weird seeing the coin increase in size after taking damage. Like others at first I was frustrated by not being able to move in the air. Then I was like oh yeah... that's real life physics. Nice submission!

Fun to catch up some speed! Could use some changes in the art, when I was moving fast it was hard to tell what I should avoid and the background gets a little mushy.
