Currency.io by Gaweringo

[raw]
made by Gaweringo for LD 44 (JAM)

So I took the Theme "Your life is currency" pretty literally and made a "Simulator" so that you can sink your whole life into currency by trying to get as much as possible.

How to play:

  • You start with 1000$ on Week 0, where all conversions are 0%.
  • At the bottom right you can go to the next week.
  • In front of you-you can see your "Comand Center" which is where all the conversion is displayed.

Here is also where you can interact. - You can buy whatever currency you like at the conversion at top and with the money you have set with the percent to sell. - It also goes the other way around, so that you can make more money. - How much money you have from each currency can be seen below.

  • The goal is to get as much money as possible.

!!! RELOADING RESETS THE GAME AND THERE IS NO SAVING !!!

As you might see by the not working News Feed I wanted to put in some Information about what's going to happen in the next week, but that was a bit too ambitious.

That was my concept: Concept.jpg

I will probably add to it a bit and publish that after the jam is over.

A post about the game explaining the development and stuff:

Thx for trying.

My monitor is not big enough to view the whole game, I was only able to see how much money I had by deleting the footer.
Also I was not sure how to interpret the percentages, so it wasn't clear to me if red numbers meant good for selling or buying.

@klianc09 What's your size? And it normally just cuts of the right side, so that you can scroll to the side.
And the percent at the top shows what is applied for the transaction. Buying means, that you transfer your selected money in Doller to the currency on top. Selling is the other way around. The list of percents at the bottom list the past rates. And there is a system in the back, that takes the past into account. Frankly not that well as I would have liked to make it but there is some stuff behind that.

@gaweringo My Monitor Resolution is 1680x1050 and I can just barely see everything if I go into fullscreen mode (F11). The laptop screen is 1366x768 and I can't see everything on there no matter what I do. I'm using firefox by the way.

I was also playing on a lower resolution screen, and the currencies that I had purchased were out of view. I would have liked some more of those features as well to have a little bit more of a strategic move with my money. I did enjoy risking my virtual currency and lost track of time trying to make money. Nice job!
