Boredom Be Gone by InsanityCode

Satan.png

Out of pure boredom you decide to summon satan to make your life more interesting. As satan is a friend of good entertainment he gladly offers you a deal: He grants you great power in trade for your very own life energy. But sadly those powers tend to consume more energy than you have, so you see yourself forced to kill others for their energy.

You can move your character around using the W,A,S,D keys and jump by pressing Space. Hold shift to sprint, but keep in mind that sprinting and jumping consume energy. You can wield your mainhand weapon by holding down the left mouse button and drag it to the desired strike direction. You can cast or charge spells by holding down the right mouse button. Some spells have an instant effect, while others have an over time effect. Casting spells also consumes life energy.
Press F to pay respect, summon satan or proeceed in dialogs.

Hardware requirements:

Works perfectly on AMD Cards.
On Intel Cards we recommend to lower the transparencyLayers-setting to 1.
You can alter these settings by modifying the settings.confix file.

Thanks to all that told us about the Intel and NVidia issues.

Thank you for your report, can you tell me what graphics card you use and what the maximum supported OpenGL version is?

I am trying it on my school computer (obviously not the best) and I had probably the same error and after continuing an endless loading screen.

Same error code as mentioned from @mimusangel (just not in french). The music I could hear was cool...

Ok, we found out what the issue is and are currently fixing it. Thank you so much for reporting that one. The systems we tested this on just all randomly supported this function...

It took a while, but at least we were able to fix the shader compiler issues on NVidia and Intel-Cards. Intel can now render the game but has issues with the transparency. NVidia produces a black screen on our hardware, but we don't have a single clue how to fix that (tried for over two hours now). I added some screenshots, so you can at least imagine how it would have looked :)

This game has a good concept, but the execution could have been a little better. If I were you, I would have reduced the sensitivity as I can move a small twitch and have the mouse move a quarter of the screen. I feel the game is not well optimized, as it runs 15 fps on my computer. My recommendation is to add more sound effects to make the player feel like they are interacting with the player, and add more enemy types, for more variety. Good work, though, keep it up!

@kivelocity Thank you for your nice words. We are already working on a post ludum dare release. Work is almost done so we'll publish that one soon! Most things you mentioned were actually planned, but we ran out of time so they didn't make it into the release. We have done some optimizing, adjusted the sensitivity. Added several new weapons and spells and also included a little quest line with some mini-bosses! Hope you'll check it out :)

Couldn’t get it to work on my laptop, but that’s not an uncommon occurrence!! Looking at the images it looks awesome, and I love the sound of the concept. Seems like you got the theme in there really nicely. Plus the graphics look great for a game made in 72 hours. Even though I couldn’t play it... congrats! 🙌
