Slave: Unpaid by Tednesday

[raw]
made by Tednesday for LD 44 (JAM)

Embark on an ethically, questionable adventure as you struggle to scrape together the gold to fulfill your rental obligations on your Roman era estate.

Will you push your workers cough slaves cough to the limit? Will you break the chains of oppression and refuse to even play? Or will you knowingly and delightfully engage yourself in a cycle of never-ending suffering?

In Slave: Unpaid, a person's life is only as valuable as the labour they produce.

I thought that it was a pretty funny game, but it looks quite bad. I don't if that was your intention, but I would make it look a bit better. Also upon game over the game doesn't restart, it just says "game over" on the screen.

Nice little management game. I really like the UI, it's very intuitive. I somehow managed to get a huge amount of gold and the game became quite hectic after I got a few slaves, but it's really enjoyable. Good job ^-^

Really cool game! The music was super nice and that enough variation to make the game engaging for a while. I really liked the...uh...~whip mechanic~

My only suggestion would be to add a web build so people can play the game on the itch.io page without downloading it. Might help you get more ratings.

I really like the gameplay, how it gets harder to manage all the slaves at once as you get more of those. I wish there was an option to free them (with some penalties) instead of just killing them :D

Really really cool. I think this game is well balanced for the most part but I didn't get much gold because I got stressed managing the slaves. Great game and submission. Congrats!

Fun management game! Nice sounds! Would maybe be nice to be able to sell slaves back to the market also, instead of executing them.

I found it quite easy to manage my settlement and have happy slaves.
So maybe there should more of a trade off in making it harder to survive and have a healthy community.
Nice idea tho!

The graphics are not my style, but I really appreciate the sounds.

Fun and interesting, great job! I'd love to see an expanded version of this with a few more job types and stats to balance.
