TJRPG meets GAMES 23<em>04</em>2018 2<em>31</em>54.png

Hi there! Tired compo developer here!

TRPG Meets Games started as a wild idea. "Ok, the theme is "Combine 2 incompatible genres"" What about doing a Fire Emblem BUT all the characters are videogame characters? AND their attack phase instead of being a predisposed animation is a GAME?" So... I did it. Development time way bigger than expected :P

*************CONTROLS****************** Arrow Keys or WASD when needed (You'll know) Space as action key or to select the next character when not moving. Mouse to do the Tactics gameplay!

And ... this is it. Hope you like it, had some leftover bugs left, but nothing game-breaker! (I hope)

LOL this brilliant.
Well done

Very well executed. was a bit confused about how to play initially, but after I understood what I was doing I had a very good time. Cool idea using the different gameplay styles to attack/defend :)

Maybe it's not particularly polished, but man, that's a brilliant game concept you have there, one of the most original takes in the theme I have seen this far. Good job!

This is a really fun idea, but the user interface for the main map was very hard to use. I think it's showing the previously selected unit instead of the currently selected unit, so you have to kind of hunt for the one you're actually moving.

Brilliantly done, nothing to add, just magnificent, great job!

@Zarkonnen Yep, was difficult to set the user interface for the map. Actually it shows the character you hover last!

Cool idea, and it's impressive how many different gameplay styles you implemented. I don't know if you plan on working on this further, there are some little things that could be addressed. For example, most of the minigames wait for user input before starting, but the Space Invaders minigame starts immediately, which threw me off immediately. Good job overall though, and very creative. Great use of the theme too :D

Really cool concept ! I have some things to say though. First of all, the randomness of the ball when you play with arkanoid and pong is awful and make the game unfair and the theme is not totally respected in my point of view because that is a tactical rpg, but for attacking, we have mini-games, so you combined trpg and mini-games, and mini-games are compatible is almost all the other genre I think.

Stop with the negative points ! Your game is really well executed, the mini-games are also well made ! At the beginning, I found pacman too hard to play, but it is quite good afterall ! Also, the art works well.

But the music ... the music is too cool ^^ I was believing I'm in the final dramatic fight ! Well done ^^

Really cool game ! Keep coding :)

I think this is my favourite entry so far, nice blend of genres, good execution given the time-frame, great job overall!

@TheMadPangolin That's right! To be honest, the Space Invaders game was one of the last I implemented and I was SO TIRED that I just leave it like that. Now with more sleep I regret doing that xD

@Mathiouza Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, I totally agree on the pong and arkanoid ball movement to be a little random. I guess I killed some of every game aspect to make all the games on time.

That is a lot of content!
Good quality across the board.

Some mini-games are better implemented than the others.
Flappy bird is overpowered :P

The only problem is that I can not see a conflict between the genres.
Other than that, great job!

I love the idea that instead of doing one game for the jam you did a lot. thanks for the html

Wow, really well done. I got super excited every time I got to see one of the character's attack/defense phases since they were all unique. Great job man.

The ultimate implementation of the theme

Good job on implementing so many different games. I've seen people complaining about having to program *two* games. You showed them!

Good job!

I got super excited when I understood what was going on. I even searched for advanced wars on google to compare some things.
Great game and execution.

If i had to complain about something if any, it is that i got a bit confused that i couldn't stay in the same place and attack. Or go back once the player is selected.

Except for that small thing, I loved what you did there . Great!

Wow ! Best game I played so far. Usually this kind of idea is to ambitious and really hard to finish in time. But you did it, and you've literally developed 5 games in one !

And it's nice to be able to play it on the web.

It's cool that there are a bunch of minigames mashed into one whole, but I really think it would have been better to have fewer, more polished minigames. The physics in breakout was baffling, the AI in pong was almost unbeatable, the pacman game gets really hard really fast... I won the pacman game once and the clicker didn't seem to even have a fail state?

I like the concept of a TBS where combat is done with different minigames for different characters, but personally I wasn't able to enjoy this implementation at all :/

This is legitimately brilliant, and not just in a "for a gamejam entry" kind of way - sure I could nitpick minor things like being forced to move before an attack, but for a compo entry that is exactly that; nit picking for the sake of it.

(Flappy was **by far** my MVP and one-shotted every enemy, probably due to my time spent on my entry, heh)

Wow, that was fantastic. I really enjoyed that you implemented all those different games inside your game. I thought the graphics looked nice, but could use a little improvement in a few areas. For example, the black clicker was almost impossible to find. It would be nice to have some kind of glowing aura to the characters you have not yet moved. And it would be nice if you didn't have to click wait if that's the only choice you have to make. Great entry!

@Sophie Oh, I really think that the great failure of this game is the state of polish. I give it a thought and kinda decided to make many little games as a test to myself maybe? I know it's not the best thing to do in a game jam, but I had fun making these, and I would do it again.

For a post-compo game I absolutely would like to polish the minigames more :)

(Clickers don't have a failure state, do they? I only could think about time!)
(Thank you for your feedback, really like sincere comments)

Flappy + Pacman super combo! I liked this one a lot, only problem I see is like someone mentioned before, the arkanoid/pong ball sometimes shoots out like crazy xD Great job overall!

10/10 Would play again.

My dude, I feel like you made quite a good entry this year. I enjoyed both the artstyle (It looks nice ) and gameplay althought sometimes some minigames feelt not too fair. I think this is one of your best entries and hope you get the good grades you deserve. Keep it up mate!

What an awesome way to use the theme! You need to make a full TRPG out of this. The music was really amazing. Congrats on completing and submitting your game.

Oh my, I was leaping with joy on this one. I play blind every time so that the surprise of each game and teaching is relevant, and I freakin' loved it. I felt some sort of gamer attachment to each unit, and enjoyed each game within the game. Great job!

Oh wow a turn based strategy game! Only if i were better in flappy birds I could have survived better haha. I was quite surprised by the complexity to actually have many games within a game that's quite a lot of work for 48h! Nice job ccglp!

Heh, funny implementation of the theme!

The game itself feels quite good and polished but for me it feels a bit one dimensional. However, you cannot hope much more from marathon game! Great job!

11/10 senpai, you've worked a lot in this entry, nice job!

The visuals were nice and as some people said the games were a *bit* unfair, but that's what happens when you mix 6 games into 1 I guess.
