Figment by CaptainPilot

made by CaptainPilot for LD35 (JAM)
A little girl meets a magical cube that can shapeshift the world around them, helping her solve puzzles and find keys. But where are they travelling to, and why was she brought here?

Controls:
- WASD or arrow keys to move around (you can push objects)
- SPACE to shift the cube to the other dimension. Nearby objects (including the player!) will travel with the cube
- SHIFT to grab objects and pull them. SHIFT again to release.

Remember to think about both dimensions, and good luck with the puzzles! This game was created by 3 members of the small UK indie studio XMPT Games - you can find us on Twitter and Facebook if you’d like to say “hi”!

We just added a web version (HTML5) of the game. There's no post jam work in there, it's just the same version but in a more accessible form now that our website is back up

Excellent game

With his creepy look when you shift, I thought the cube was evil, but hopefully he isn't

I've only played a few games, so take it with a grain of salt, but it looks like it'll be one of my strong favourites. It's got great visuals for both worlds (I particularly like the other-world's regular box/cupboard), catchy soundtrack (with a nice switching-between-worlds effect), quite fun puzzles that use the world mechanics well and adorable ending that has nothing to do with the main character dying or whatever (come to think of it, the cat-themed doormats were dead giveaway). Great work. ^^

Some puzzles were quite tricky, but were fun to solve. Love all the small details in the game!

Interesting puzzles and cool music. The ending got me a little misty eyed. I think the difficulty spiked a little bit in the early few levels. Toning one of them down would make the difficulty curve feel a little more natural.

I am so thoroughly impressed right now. This is the best entry I've played so far.
You more than earned a like/ follow/ sub on all your social media haha.
I feel like shifting dimensions kinda loosely fit the theme, but still. Incredible entry.
I finished this because it deserved to be finished.

Very nice!
I love the doormats showing where doors are in both dimensions. The art is also very consistent and polished.
Nice touch having the box guy close his eyes when you where to far away from him for him to follow along.

That said the movement felt a bit unresponsive or perhaps just a bit too heavy, making minute changes slow to preform getting me stuck in doorways and dropping objects I was pushing.
Nonetheless really cool entry, high praise!

Interesting concept. Well polished. The switch in the moods with the artstyle is neat and lends itself really well to the overall game. Music as well, fits the atmosphere, giving it that nice and somber/creepy mix which meshes really well with the whole puzzle mechanic. Interesting level design, one issue however is that it is fairly easy to end up trapping yourself between barricades with no way out.

This is wonderful- great art, great mechanic, neat puzzles and a complete experience. The nuances of the mechanic were taught at a gentle pace, and once realised gave a wonderful 'a-ha' moment. The small use of narrative was also a neat touch to spur on the player. Great job!

I thought in the end the cube would consume the little girl, or the cat would turn a huge monster...

I really liked this. If I had to give any constructive criticism I would say the pickup items and keys confused for me for a second. I was trying to pick up the key without knowing I already had picked it up. Other than that I loved it. :)

Wow, just wow, this game is awesome, my only critique, is that you could have stuck to the theme a little more, other than that, awesome job!

Cool! Graphics are outstanding! Controls are a bit clunky though.

Brilliant art and music (as ever), and fun and interesting puzzles! It did a good job of ramping up the difficulty. Pressing Shift to pick up the objects was a little tricky though, it didn't always seem to work. But the exertion animation gave enough feedback to know when it was working.

Great job guys!
