Space Restaurant by SecretC

[raw]
made by SecretC for LD 41 (JAM)

Theme Didn't you always want to throw food on people? In this mixture of simulation and shooter you have to manage a space restaurant. You can make your customers happy by shooting the right food on them. If you don't serve them or shoot the wrong food on them, they'll leave and take some of your precious /C/ with you! Try to serve as many customers as possible before running out of /C/.

Ingame.png

Instructions You must shoot food on your customers - but only the food they want. If you hit them with the wrong food - or wait too long, they go away and take some of your /C/ with them. Since you live in the future the food comes out of high-tech vending machines. You have to shoot these machines to cook food (which takes some time) and then pick up the meal. After some cooking, vending machines have to be refilled - shoot them to refill them. Be Aware: refilling costs money and takes some time.

Controls Move your character with WASD or the right mouse button, select your food with the mouse wheel (or "1" and "2"), quickly jump to your white bullet with a click on the mouse wheel or "q". Shoot the food with the left mouse button.

Versions At itch.io you can find three versions: - The version from before the deadline - A version which contains various bugfixes (list below) - A version with additional features added after the Deadline

Since Ludum Dare allows fixing bugs we would recommend playing the bug fixed version. You can find more info on the itch.io site.

Bugfixing Bugs that were fixed - Not every click registered - Credit "Punishment" when the wrong order is serverd set to zero - Food eating duration fixed at 1 second - Food was not removed every time - Sometimes no sound was played when eating - No customers after a short while - Customers getting stuck in each other

Really cool idea, the controls felt fluid. I felt there was maybe just a lack of feedback for your actions in the game, but with some refinement I think your game has a lot of potential. Keep it up!

Hey, your game sounds interesting, but I just can not try it because I have an exception when starting it. I think may be other people are having the same problem, considering the low amount of reviews you have. I hope this can help you:

@alkubo Thanks for the info! We have uploaded an updated build that should hopefully work. We also have an HTML5 version on [GitLab](https://teamck.gitlab.io/LD41/), but they have a technical problems at the moment. Nevertheless, the game on GitLab should work (and hopefully the new downloadable version too) :)

The idea is nice, although I had hard time with controls - and hard time to catch up with the game (it gets crowded way too fast and you can't process orders at all).

The sounds are perfect on the other hand, I had quite a laugh when I first heard 'nom nom nom nom nom'.

Keep up the good work!

EDIT: No idea why there is double-post. But apparently I can't remove the second one. @pov

As @zgragselus already said .. it gets crowded too fast and I had trouble getting food to people. Sounds are super funny and the gameplay itself actually works!

One thing I would change is making the UI bigger ... I had a hard time seeing what type of food the customers wanted. I would also make them take longer to spawn. Anyways .. very fun game to play and nice job!

There could definitely be some polish here, the UI feels too small and is kinda hard to see and discern what's what. But the idea is certainly unique and really cool!

Loved the sound effects, sooo cute :D Just wanna feed them for ever. Last ldjam I did a similar game FeedEm.

Like the other said it was sort of hard to see what they wanted at times and it took me a while to figure out how to select what food to give them. They just said nope in the beginning but then I totally understood it once I figured out how to move the food cursor. A tutorial would be nice.

I liked the magic music, it adds a special cosmic charm. :musical_note:
The game is difficult to play because everything is very small (add a zoom wheel).

I would be very glad if [you review my game](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/last-stand-1) too:mag:
