The game was finished 3 days after the jam deadline. Take that into consideration when rating (or don't rate).

The project was way too ambitious for a single person that studies and works.

That being said I'm super proud of this one. Hope you enjoy it and feedback is much appreciated! 😄

I like the concept that you have here! The whole warping onto a planet and fighting aliens idea is very cool. I felt that the gameplay was very tight and responsive and everything was very well made. The graphics were very colorful and interesting, which helped distract me from the illusion of playing in only one level haha. I think you might've went a little overboard with the bass in some of the sound effects but overall those were nice too. Overall good job (even if you didn't make the deadline, which is perfectly fine imo).

Fun to play :D I like the graphics and the music. I don't play video games a lot so there were a looooot of monsters for me, haha! And I died a lot too ^^'
Maybe you could make the game start at an easier level? Just a suggestion :)
But overall, good job!

Really fun game you have here! I really liked the graphics of it, and the effects too. I would have preferred for the camera to have been a bit more zoomed out and for you not to lose all your coins when you get hit as it then becomes very hard to get any upgrades as I kept running into enemies that instantly come out of nowhere. But I had fun nonetheless and still managed to make it quite far.

Fun game! Easy to pick up an control, got me playing a bunch of times.

to echo @mashupgames point, the majority of times I was hurt was when I was traveling in a direction and an enemy spawned from that directon (especialy going south).

Very fun ! The theme is well used. The graphics are amazing beaing in 2d and 3d at the same time. The character reminds me of the character of Nirtome's Tower Fortress ! The idea is very good and the levels seem to be procedurally generated, so good job ! All is very fun, but when you lose in two deconds for being touched by an alien and don't recovering your coin is a bit fustrating... The camera when you go down is a litte bit archaic and sometimes you can't see the alien which is just below you, leading to some infortunate deaths. I had a lot of fun playing it, Congratulations !

I really like the 2D in a 3D game visuals! I really like the satisfying shooting! Overall, this is a really good jam entry!

Fun game I managed to max all the stats and I really liked the 2D and 3D combation. My only problem with the game is that due to the perspective, when the enemies aproach you from below they come so fast that is really hard to see them comming. Despite that thing, it´s a very polished and fun game :)

Very nice game! I like the mechanic of the lives/coins a lot and I think it's pretty unique. The gameplay is smooth and fun. Great work on this one!

Nice entry. Satisfying shooting action and movement feels good. Personally, I found the R to reload a bit fiddly and would have preferred being able to at least change it to my mouse right click or something. But that's just me and my skillz haha nice game overall.

Fun, but a bit too slow... Needs faster fireing and more coins from the getgo (and higher prices)

Well done! Love how satisfying the game feels, great "juiciness", especially that visual effect upon bullets colliding with stuff. Life is currency => currency is life is also a neat interpretation (went with similar approach ourselves, haha). Great job!

Wow! Very polished entry! The visual presentation and audio choices were on point. I especially liked the use of effects when enemies were killed. The "explosion" effect was a nice touch.

The difficulty curve was also well thought out. I made it to level 11 before I got mobbed, but if I was a little better I'm sure I could have made it farther!

A couple of suggestions:
- The fixed camera angle made it more difficult to move down, and easier to move up (because you could see more of the playing field in the "up" direction). Because of this I always tried to stick to the lower parts of the stage, and it felt unfair when an enemy came at me from the bottom
- The upgrades could have been more fun. I would have loved to be able to buy different gun, or some abilities (e.g., a shield, or an AOE upgrade)
- I was sad when everything in the shop was sold out  Let me upgrade forever :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Overall very impressive and juicy entry! I had a great time playing!

Good job but my rating is only for 3 days of work so a little less high.

neat game! i think that you did very well presentation-wise. the 2d-3d graphics are quite charming, in fact so much so that it's a shame more games don't use it. the sound effects are really satisfying, and you can really *feel* the impact of gunshots and guts. the gameplay, while it feels nice to control, does get a little repetitive over time, since you basically just run around in circles a lot. perhaps some sort of other maneuver, like rolls or jumps, or perhaps making enemies drop coins, would incentivize riskier and more exciting play? nonetheless, i think you made an excellent game for the time you had to work on it.

This was really fun, although I only got to level 6 and always lost my coins before I could upgrade anything. The combination of 2D and 3D is interesting, but I didn't like the floor texture. The whole coins/life mechanic is great interpretation of the theme.

Satisfied with the gameplay. Graphics look great and it plays pretty well. There were a few things that could've been better but overall I really liked it. Good job!

"The game was finished 3 days after the jam deadline. Take that into consideration when rating (or don’t rate).

Why so much insecurity? Right when you pull out such a complete game and well polished game by your own (Remember we are all devs commenting here haha), it doesn't look like you worked alone, this is great.

That said the game design itself didn't have anything interesting to showcase besides the use of your character's health as currency (I think most of us did that, I didn't like this theme that much to be honest lol.

This game is awesome! Really, i felt in love with graphics you've made. Audio fit nicely!
You're in the theme! Nice controls, simple but efficient! I'm sad because you didn't finish this game in time.. I think it could be on podium!
keep the good work, and i want to see more games from you !

The actual mechanics of the game here were so good! Really good feedback to shooting, and the actual feel of shooting (the sound effect, the shake, the enemy burst on death) were really well done. The take on the theme was pretty standard, and the graphics sometimes made it hard to make out what was going on (I did like the 2d on 3d background though). Overall, this was a ton of fun, definitely something I could see myself putting lots of time in if it was more fleshed out/more levels, etc. Well done!

The was awesome, I loved the art and the way u worked with the theme, so u have the dangers of upgrading ur character and balacing between not having coins and maybe dying in the next round. The graphics were so cool the mixture u did was amazing, thanks for the experience.

This game felt excellent to play! It was a very fun shooter. You guys did very good on this. It was like Sonic meets Crimson Land. The theme was pretty much the only weak spot of this game.

**Excellent* presentation! It's a twinstick shooter that had a baby with Sonic and... it looks a bit like Don't Starve?

Everything about this felt very polished, I can easily see the theme, and this game looks ready to be expanded upon. Great work!

Nicely done on the feel of this game. once i was fully upgraded i had a lot of fun just blasting like crazy at the enemies. I loved the art style, the 2d/3d type hybrid (i dont know what else i would call it) was interesting visually.

I almost wish there was more levels to upgrade. having only 6 levels makes you max out pretty quick if you are any good at these types of games.

Nice game. Well polished. I liked how the coins encouraged exploration, so the player won't just camp out and shoot creeps.

@gerardb Very cool concept and gameplay man! I especially like the variation you were able to achieve from round to round while basically using the same assets. Did you do all that with shaders and/or materials? Nice work!
🎤 GerardB
05. May 2019 · 15:46 UTC
@jordantanner Yeah. I only have 2 tres, a cube, the character and the alien. All the variation is achieved with custom shaders. The main ones are for the characters, trees and ground. But there are many others. I only use default materials on the UI and death particles
