Ninjewels! by FinalForeach

[raw]
made by FinalForeach for LD 40 (COMPO)

Ninjewels.png Play as a ninja with one mission: Collect all ninjewels!

Move with WASD or Arrow keys, Jump with space.

As you collect each ninjewel, your health decreases by one (to a minimum of one), so having more ninjewels increases the danger of the mission.

This game requires java to run.

You can download java from: https://www.java.com/en/download/

Running:

Then to run the .jar, double click the .jar file or type in a command prompt java -jar LD40-Ninjewels.jar. On Linux, you may have to set the executable bit.

I like the look of the game. Controls are smooth. It was very easy to dodge the bullets and landmines and win because you're so fast. But I guess that's ninjas for you. :)

The graphics look nice, but it would have been nice to have a little color variation. Hard to see with purple on purple. That said, i enjoyed and got all the ninjewels!

That was fun. Finished the game on first try.. so should have been more difficult. But GJ!

Graphics looks very nice! I don't know if it's a bug or you just didn't have time to implement it but I didn't persuaded any cannon to hit me. Even if I stay put in front of it or when I intentionaly jump into the bullet.

Nice artwork & environment.

Jewels could have been a bit more distinct from the background environment, maybe a different color. Also, the way camera follows you when you jump feels a bit weird, because you fall without seeing where to land. A bit too easy as well.

Good job overall.

I'll agree with other comments that it was very easy - but I really loved the graphics. I didn't really have trouble seeing anything, though I'll admit I blew by most of the cannons without them getting a chance to aim at me.

Fun game; thanks for submitting it.

Nice environment and visuals overall, but the collectibles should be more distinct. It was very easy to go past them unnoticed.

Nice work on the grapics and the controls feel smooth. Gameplay wise, however, I found the game a bit too easy. I could just hold one direction and keep jumping to avoid the mines completely (they seem to be always in the lower part and there's no reason for me to go there). Also, not sure if a bug or a feature but the more you hold one of the directions the faster you go, which meant that really quickcly I was super fast and nothing could catch me :D

Nice artwork! The game is too easy imo, I've finished it in 30 sec
Also, I would appreciate more type of enemies because tbh currently they are useless, they haven't touched me once.

Cool idea! I sucked at the game though. I liked that you made it in Java, I'm gonna learn Java pretty soon, I've heard that it's very similar to my favorite language (c#) so that should be a breeze.

oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have also a page there? This looks great! I looked for the games that used the #LDJAM but I don't find yours. So good luck!! I will hope to make a video about it!

Nice graphics and controls are smooth. But is it even possible to get hit? I completed the level on first try, I don't see how is it supposed to be difficult.
