[raw]
made by Matoux42 for LD 41 (COMPO)

Cover.png My game is globaly finished and playable, but I haven't enough time to make a good Shoot 'Em Up part. I hope you'll enjoy it though :)

There was a problem when I went into the simulation a second time. The ship moved on its own and didn't respond to controls! This game has a clear progression, and I like that the difficulty is gated by earning money and researching enemies.

Thanks for your feedback @incobalt !
I haven't had enough time to test the Shoot'em up part, that I finished 2 minutes before the LD end. I'll try to fix that.

Love it! I also had the bug @incobalt mentioned, but other than that I really enjoyed it. Very creative. Only design criticism is that the font is a bit difficult to read.

Same issue as incobalt! Also I wish the base speed was better, it's really tedious to start out with

I still can't stop playing this game! I've always wanted to make a management shoot em up myself and to see you do it in 48 hrs is inspiring. The graphics are really well done. I wish you would have had another 24hrs to add sound. You should definitely continue to work on this. It has a lot of potential Here's our first LD entry https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/infinite-typer

Very slow simulation , and bullets stayed after few times when I played . But In general - game

Hm... An interesting idea... Though I am not sure the "Simulation" is the right word to use. Maybe "Mission" would be better. Because retaining ship damage after "simulation" feels wierd.

Also the idea of "researching" and unlocking additional enemy types is. Fun, but it would really help if the enemies had different graphics. Just to tell which of the enemies are actually new ones.

And the gun upgrades are... well... the stock gut is pretty fittingly weaksauce. But even tier 1 gun is insanely good oneshotting omst of enemies and having a decent fire rate to deal with everyone non-convinced by one shot...

Moving to Tier 2 makes shooting even more satisfying... but Tier 3... just doesn't feel like an upgrade at this point.

Quite fun! Tho with the difficulty being non-existant this felt more like a shoot-em-up incremental.

had a bug-free playthrough btw!

You have a nice base concept for something but as a game it's not super engaging. After the first two upgrades or so nothing really feels like it's changing except numbers are bigger. Also, I see so many submissions totally neglecting sound. Just a few blips and bloops can add a lot. I recommend trying some sound effect generators like BFXR to quickly get some sound into your games even if you're hard pressed on time :).

I agree that it's more like "mission" than simulation. I don't know what those scientists I hired actually did. Maybe I didn't play long enough. I fixed my ship twice and shot things twice. And hired scientists. I need something to pull me back to play longer and motivate me to understand.

Year, I understand what you think. At the beggining, I wanted to make true upgrades (with fixed names, stats and skins), but I haven't had enough time this week-end to make all, and to make a playable think I had to create self-generated upgrades (with multiplicators).

Played it for a straight 10 minutes until a "Failed to execute Tardis" error crashed the game (Windows 7 64 bits). But that was fun to play. Mixing shoot'em up and ressource management is a neat idea. Adding new buildings, each with their own kind of research, also reminded me Mega Lo Mania, an old Amiga game, and that's a good thing! My only complain is the lack of sound but hey, it's a jam game, we all had to sacrify something! Anyway, the best game I played this far, mechanics are good, well done!

Unfortunately can't rate as I'm missing Python.dll and another runtime.

I like the graphics and the concept but I felt that the shooting part of the game was too slow and the game wasn't really clear on what the scientist actually did.

That's weird. Are you on a 32bit ? What is your windows version ?

That's the first time it happen !

@lautregars

I had a lot of fun playing this! Like most games it could use some balancing, especially the upgrades. But is a solid game overall. Great job!
