Effigies by Geckoo1337

The project "Effigies" is my entry for the 43th LudumDare session. As usual, I did a puzzle game. Use arrows key to move Amulets - each of them must be on its colored base (red, green and blue). This game is really hard and each movement must be considered. Be careful - purple snakes hurt you! I guess that players have to do many efforts to finish the entirely game - sacrifices must be made :)
USE ARROWS KEYS TO MOVE EFFIGIES
ESCAPE TO GO BACK - TO THE MENU
R TO RESTART A LEVEL
PS : source code is inside the zip file. I create each level using a simple string - and all objects too. Take a look at these scripts which I use commonly because I like this way. If you have a question, I will be very happy to considere your request - follow me on Twitter : @geckoo1337
PLEASE leave a comment - this way I can rate your project too ++

Pretty cool game, very similar to your other puzzle games, but I like it. Always liked the screen effects you got going it fits really well :-)
The last few puzzles requires some brains 😄 Anyways, another simple and very puzzly game from you, and smooth aswell :-)
The puzzles were really challenging
Though the win detection felt a bit off, seemed like I had to give the game a little time to catch up
It seems to "animate" the effigies that aren't moving, which means I press a button, one moves, then I press another button, but it ignores that button press because it's still animating the effigies that aren't moving, I guess, which makes the controls really frustrating. Makes it even more confusing that it doesn't play a sound for the effigy that isn't moving, just takes up time/feels like the game locks up.
Level 7 appears to not be solvable, in that I get my 3 guys in the right place, but the level does not end!

Wish I could get to level 8, otherwise, great game!
 I like how the tile graphics helped us line up our sliding effigies. I also really like the gameplay idea here, it's a nice twist on sliding puzzle games (particularly the boxes).
:point_right: I could only get to the 6's level before the difficulty became too much for me.
:star:Overall great job. Thank you for making this!
I really liked your concept. The level design was great, and the core mechanics were solid. My only criticism of the core of your game was the moving blocks. It seemed to confuse your concept a little bit (a game this difficult shouldn't confuse me with moving objects in addition to the already static ones). Also, I felt like your audio didn't all gel together, but this wouldn't be a very hard thing to fix.
Great job with your game!
And i like the concept
as said it will be so much better with increase speed movement ;)
If further devs can add a "back a step" would be great, sometime a simple mistake will let the character feed the snake coming with a irreversible death.
The graphics are minimalist and very cool. It reminded me of Atari. The snake sprites also reminds me of Pitfall, from Atari. I liked the effect on the effigy when it couldn't move on the direction wanted.
The music fitted very well with the game, and the commands are simple and easy to learn and use.
The challenges are very good, I really liked the idea and mechanics of the game. It reminded me a lot of 2048. The game started with a very easy stage at the beggining for learning, and this is great, mainly because we move 3 effigies.
I think if you put more easy stages at the begging, to increase the difficulty more progressively, you could easily put it for sale on platforms like Steam. I think that minimalist puzzles have a good niche on Steam.
Congratulations for the game!!! Wish you all the best with your works!!!
Interesting take on the theme, it is not clear at first how the theme was used but my interpretation was that you must sacrifice positions in order to progress further. Sometimes you would have 2 of 3 effigies in the correct position but the last one needed to do some algorithm to be put in place.
Great job!
Level 8 (the last one) was by far my favorite, I really enjoyed going through that one. There was an initial phase of experimentation, followed by some more concrete guesswork, then actual directed planning as I realized what constraints I needed to meet.
Thanks for a great design!
The pushing block mechanic was unexpected. It seemed to open the levels up to a lot of different solutions. The game I worked on had a one similar puzzle in it to this idea, where the characters needed to exit a sliding ice area.
I almost didn't get to play this because my Windows isn't set up most of the time, but I'm glad I was able to get it working and check this out.
