Super Solid Shifter by Shide

[raw]
made by Shide for LD35 (JAM)
SUPER SOLID SHIFTER is a game where you need to use your shapeshifting abilities to outsmart the guards.

How to play / Controls:
=======================
WASD / Arrows - movement
Shift - Shift to static object (Guards will notice you in this form only when really close)
Ctrl - Shift to noysy RC car (Slightly faster than character, but attracts more)
X - Attack a guard (only when close)

Also there is full gamepad support.

Goal:
=====
In each "mission" the goal is to reach the "elevator". That's all.

Sorry for the lack of actual gameplay.

Development:
============
Programming:
Most of the time was spent on the guards AI. On its tweaking, state programming, player position estimation and so on. Lots of work. Never thought that this will be THAT hard.

3D:
We decided not to spend time for creating materials and textures so we decided to use SUPER HOT like style. We've done 15 animations for characters and around 70 different 3d models. Only little of created assets are in the game right now. We wish we had more time to bring them to the game.

Really good idea, sadly the scope was maybe too big. But the concept is really good. Would be awesome to see more progress on this.

Great start! Definitely worth expanding on. You have a lot of the building blocks for a full-on stealth game here!

I love the shapeshifting process, and the SuperHot reference as well as a MGS feel. But it miss some instructions, or hint to know what to do and how. Good game btw.

It's not Superhot as some were saying, it takes more than a color to identify a certain game. This is basically more like one of the earlier MGS games. The AI is good the animations are nice, but there is no tutorial and no goal and just one level, sadly. I would really like this to get expanded, because the groundwork is there.

I could basically run to the finish in both levels without minding the enemies. I also feel like there was way to little content.

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

As a Metal Gear Solid fan, I really liked it! It definitely needs some work, but the animations and graphical style could definitely work in a more fleshed-out game. I didn't find the shapeshifting all that useful - the RC car just alerted enemies straight away, for example - but I like the idea of using shapeshifting for stealth games. I'd love to see a post-comp version!

The concept seems interesting, but there wasn't much to play with. The text in the tutorial was a little hard to read (at 1920x1080) and I got stuck not being able to click on the controls.

very nice game, it is a shame there are no levels other than tutorial and the one playground (unless mine wasnt working correctly, i clicked next nothing happened) but it looks really nice and well made.

too short. I hope to see this continued (read: more than two levels).
As for current content, it's okay. I'd have to see it in action to really appreciate it, but currently it isn't being shown.

I am happy to see an idea so similar to mine :D The animations are great, but it looks like it was a little ambitious, as there wasn't much to do yet.
Expand on it though, good luck!

didn't work for me, instead of shape-shifting, my character just became permanently unresponsive when I pressed shift.
