I just wish that the sockets circle would be bigger, so I could spend more time evading and shooting at the same time.
There was too much repetetive content for me, but still, this is a very cool compo entry!
Well done!
- The monsters took really random amount of hits to kill, or maybe I was that bad a shot, anyway, seems like something to think of.
- Aiming was a bit hard sometimes and the monsters cheating through walls was annoying since the plug has a really short range. I died a lot :)
- I liked the introduction, but maybe the hero could speak a bit more? It was pretty straightforward for me to find the three orbs, but I feel like he should comment on that.
Solid mechanics, great graphics.
Graphics were great, like the design of those ghost zombies and I specially like how the float over the wall. The main character also looks cute. 5/5
Innovation.
It's the standard rogue like, reminds me bit of blinding of Isaac, but the wall socket is an interesting spin on it. 3/5
Theme.
I think your idea is very unique and I wish I thought of it. 5/5 I like that charging the weapon was central to the game, you made this game with the theme in mind unlike some other people.
Audio.
I like the track and sound effect. No real complaints going to score it 5/5 simply because audio is on of the most neglected categories in LD so just having good sound gets high score.
Fun.
It's very fun because of it's length, respawn in a room when you die is good anti frustration..even though this goes against the very concept of rogue likes. 3/5. I feel like a little bit more challenge would have made it more fun.
Humor.
Nothing funny here, maybe the opening where he says he forgot to charge his gun. 2/5.
Overall I think you can take this concept further than just Ludum Dare, different sockets like people said and different guns. Good luck.
Music is good, but feels a bit out of place, SFX is pretty fitting though.
Graphics are fine, but could go with a bit more polish maybe, but it's a 48hour jam so still really great!
But hey, all very minor things! Its really great overall! Congrats on this one!
Good job!
One flow : no rating given the other devs...
The arts are fun and the game really works. I took a lot of fun playing!
Well done!
Overall, a fun game that builds on similar games with its new gameplay element (plugging in the laser blaster).
I think the key was pointless and the worst part of the game, making me backtrack all that way for no reason :/
Also it would have been nice to have a button to press to not let us move out of the circle so we can walk around in it not worrying about having to let it pop out.
All in all great work
Really great Compo entry!
I like your idea, art, and enough polished level design!
It is an amazing work. Nothing to say! It is intuitive and really fun to play!
If you will develop this idea, add more puzzles, make a better art and polish everything it will be a great production game! :)
I would love to see the game expanded though, perhaps with a story mode, and randomized endless mode, I'd play the heck out of that.
Very impressive game for a 48 hour compo.
I feel that there were some areas near the beginning that were a little hard compared what came closer to end, but I certainly understand given the time limits of a game jam so I don't hold it against it
## Feedback:
My name isn't Steve, it is **Tim**. The graphics are really nice, a few of the foreground items seemed to clash a bit with the background, mostly in level of detail say the brick wall was more details than character, or aiming reticle / key etc. But overall very pleasant graphics and coloring. The "oreo cookie" machine gun is awful! It doesn't die and was a serious killer to me.
The "zombies" (you referred to them as ghosts) seemed to take forever to kill. Like so many more shots than expected, they just keep coming!! I think I figured out the headshots were a bit better at killing but that was far too late into the game. Definitely happy you made it so you restarted a room when the player died since otherwise I'd have done the first rooms 100s of times and given up. The whole concept of the fun that needs to be plugged in, **amazing!** Really like this concept and it could be evolved into many bonuses/power ups: longer cord, auto plug in distance, briefly charged battery etc.
I was able to finish the game, after dying many times and wondering if I was going to need to give up on the boss fight. I'm not sure I was ever good at aiming and hitting baddies that I aimed at- but I won. I also liked that the oreo baddie was able, _needed even_, to break the stone. The zombies on the boss seemed to spawn VERY often. I did like that the boss had multiple means of kill me, the player. Tim.
But I got beyond him and the ending had a great feeling. Good job!
+++ The core mechanic of the game is one of the most ingenious I've seen this LD. The wall socket constraint is a solid foundation for a host of additional mechanics and rules.
+++ My encounter with the red electricity enemy made the game more interesting. It made me stop and think for a few seconds until I figured out what to do. That was well done!
++ Spooky castle music coupled with spooky ghosts made the treasure search spooky.
+++ The character art was amazing! I loved the animation for the ghosts (I didn't get too far in the game to see other enemies).
-- The environment art could be better.
Thank you for such a great game! I'm inspired to try out something similar.
