High Roller by CorgiRam

[raw]
made by CorgiRam for LD 44 (COMPO)

My first time doing the compo! I hope you enjoy. I created this game in less than a day (about 8 hours) because I was busy over the weekend, but still wanted to make a game for Ludum Dare.

I love these literal interpretations of the theme! It's like 2D katamari damacy haha. Well done for a first compo!!

This is a really fun game! The graphics are really cool. The music is different. I like that you added a feature to disable that but overall I had fun playing this.

@notb I'm happy you enjoyed the game! The game definitely took some inspiration from katamari :)

@tfdiaz Thanks, I figured having the option to disable the music was a good idea lol, I'm glad you had fun!

Neat jam entry! If feels very friendly and complete. And I love that interpretation of the theme in both ways.

I really like the particle effects and the money ball looks pretty awesome too. The gameplay is fun but gets a bit samey after while. Good work :)

@johan-vischer thanks for playing, I'm happy you liked it!

@seb-jones Thanks for the feedback! I agree that the game is a bit samey, and if I decide to revisit the game after the jam, I would definitely look into mixing up the gameplay

Great interpretation of the theme! The game itself hurt my eyes a little trying to keep up with it, but that might be just me, lol!

Good use of theme! The background texture sort of hurt my eyes after a short time based on the speed. Awesome particles on picking up money!

@nathaniel-jensen @zactical thanks for the feedback! I agree the background gets really blurry and hard to see as the speed increases. I think if I come back to this game I would increase the size of the background so it has less noise

@pokenoufl thanks! I'm happy you liked it!

Nice and simple game - very playable! Great move on going with a 2D game; I've played a similar game for this LD in 3D and it didn't work nearly as well unfortunately, due to complications of adding physics.

This was a great idea for a simple jam game with the theme. Well executed and I was legit engaged with the big ball of dough.

It was quite iteresting. Maybe little bit more of mechanics like slowing down when taking damage would be nice. Also final score (2434,97) seem to be hardcoded or at least i consistently get it in web version

@rsim @justuspan @kadecgos Thanks for playing! I'm glad to hear you all enjoyed playing!

@seriar thanks for the feedback! The highscore shown in the middle at the end is your best score on all runs, so 2434.97 was probably your best score. The best score of the current run is displayed in the top left, I probably should have made the end screen more clear.

Love the simple nature of the game and great use of the theme. Would make for a great phone game with a little more work. Such as adding more things to avoid and power ups.

100% accurate simulation of being a ball of money rolling down the street

@darkguardsman Thanks for playing! Making the game into a mobile game with more complete features sounds like it would be fun! I might do that if I find the time

@mrnyarlathotep haha, 100% accuracy was the goal of this hyper-realistic game ;)

I really like the negative feedback loop for the difficulty - as you get bigger, the game naturally gets harder.
The art is nice, but the background pattern scrolling past makes my eyes hurt.

Pretty fun! I really felt like a wad 'o cash

@dorblin7z7 thanks for the feedback! I agree about the background texture, if I come back to the game I would make the texture less noisy so it doesn't blur as much
