Kurt Brodlington is making a new high budget action film!

But the studio wants it to get a low age rating so they can make more money. PG Films are where the big bucks are they say!

Help kurt make the film by beating up bad guys and delivering some classic action movie quotes. But time them well, nobody wants to hear random quips out of nowhere.

Defeat the badguys to earn action points, the more points you have the greater the movie will be.

Using weapons & drugs will make your fights easier but will raise the film's age rating so be careful!

Break objects to find bonus items!

Just short of five million bucks - I guess I lost a few of the kids when I carved the guy at the end up with a knife!

This came together nicely - the story, the voice work, and the fun art all come together well! I dug the skeletal animations that helped me show off my oversized fists.

If I could add one thing it would be a little more impact when I punch the guys.

(Oh also, random, but heads up, I noticed your youtube link in your profile has a typo.)

The game was nice and complimented the nice small story, it also has suberb sound effects and voice acting, great work!

I chuckled at the title, and liked the absurdity of the concept.

One Suggestion: Being able to see them punks the dirt would've been fun to see.

Overall though, good work!

Nice work on this classic arcade-y style game. Only thing is I had to mute the beats after a while, it was too much.

Made $5.7m, am I a legit action star now? Nice little game, reminded me a bit of playing double dragon years ago.

Circa $8m. I just have to mash buttons to win ^^' Weapons are not useful at all. Very fun game though, and ... the best thing you did one this one is ... The voice acting x) That is amasing xD At least we can see you had fun doing your game ^^

Anyway, the game is cool :) Good job ! :) Keep coding :)

Love the concept and the humor. It was difficult to get the one-liner multiplier up but the voice acting was awesome and the one liners were excellent. Really cool game, great work.

My final score was in the far negatives somehow D:

Funniest game by far. I was spamming the button just to hear more of the quips :D

I really enjoyed playing it. I like the idea of being discouraged from using weapons. It seems different to similar games I've seen.

Fun game! gave me a Duke Nukem meets Double Dragon vibe! Top notch voice acting. I enjoyed the extra moves after beating em punks. The whole time, I wanted to throw the knife, maybe something to add in a future update? That or I missed it :) Good job!

Hey James, really got a kick out of your take on classic one-liners. I don't know what kind of ratings board allows people to be repeatedly stabbed and maintain a G rating, but count me in! Kind of wish the combat was a bit more engaging but its more than enough considering the time to make it.

The good :
- The mood is excellent !
- The graphics are very nice (seems like retro beat'em'all).
- The game is not too long.
- Nice humour (I liked the quotes of the hero :D )

The bad :
- The music is kind of repetitive, a great movie needs a great sountrack ;).

This is a good game and I enjoyed playing it :)

I love the idea of the game and the one liners make me groan (which is what any great cheesy oneliner should do!) but for an action game, I wish the action would have felt more tight and responsive. :grinning:

"Say hello to my friend, punchy." Kurt Brodlington after stabbing a man to death.
Very funny game, honestly love it. More combos and the like would be good but hey, cheesy action moive dialogue over actual action any day,

Your game works really well!

**Pros**
- I really like the art style. I like the swinging limbs and how the character looks when attacking
- Obviously there's some great thought put into the humor of the game, although idk why he can't have a beard!
- The mechanics all work pretty well and its kind of fun to just keep playing even if it's easy.

**Cons**
- I get what you say about the higher rating thing being a bad thing and thats how you tie in the theme. I'm not quite sure how all that fits into the gameplay?
- Is the knife just a 1 shot kill? Seems a bit too easy when I have that equipped.
- Is the timer supposed to work? Mine just looked like it was stuck @ 3:09 or something. Maybe I bugged it out somehow?
- I think a little bit more feedback on attacks would be helpful. I think part of this ties into the knife being a 1 shot kill though. I'd just love to see a bit more care taken into the moment you attack and hit something. Maybe a knockback or something when you hit?

I hope these comments are helpful, I think you've done a great job for this LD!

I liked the humor and mood of the game. The theme doesn't really tie strongly into the game play, and I don't think I took a hit while playing. I did appreciate the hell out of the Bo Dallas reference tho. :D

Lots of fun! I loved the voice quips, and enjoyed the general combat. Some more feedback would have helped (i.e., punches didn't seem to always "connect", even if they did damage). Theme wasn't entirely on point (in my opinion), but it did provide a good explanation for why one shouldn't just use knives the entire time. Finished with a PG rating!

Haha, funny game you made here! ^^

Loved the one-liners, it feels a bit like Duke Nukem shooting a movie for kids. I almost didn't use any weapon and finished with a G rating and 25 millions bucks. Overall, the gameplay is fine. I just think it didn't fit the theme too much, but other than that, congrats!

Yeah its Funny!
The character and the mood made me think to Duke Nukem, so too Jonh Nada in They Live.
Nice and funny voice sound!

$10.5M. The voices were fantastic, and I enjoyed all of Kurt's one-liners. The fights were a little on the easy side, but that's good from my point of view as I got to finish the game without disappearing in a pool of my own blood.

Hey James! I feel so bad that I didn't get to rate/review your game in time! I just got in from my move to LA and got internet just moments ago! I did get to play though and I had a lot of fun, even though I didn't get to hear my line on any of my playthroughs lol. The graphics were great and I enjoyed the old-school audio sounds. Would've been nice to hear some background music, maybe we can team up for the next jam instead of Compo and I could make some nice melodies and soundscapes for you! A couple notes are that the score screen seems to take forever to tally up, maybe increase the speed of the counter (eh, but who cares; after this box office hit, I'm rich! >;D) and also maybe making the enemies a little more responsive would've been nice and would've made for a good challenge. All-in-all, this game would've gotten 5/5 humor from me just because the one-liners are so great and your take on the theme also deserves a 5/5!
