Arena of Death by KunoNoOni
Back in the late 80's-early 90's Bulletin Board Systems (BBS for short) were all the rage! If you had a modem in your computer (this was not standard issue) then you could connect to someones computer running a BBS. ON the BBS you could chat, post messages to the message groups, download files (this was the best way to get shareware games) and play DOOR Games. Arena of Death is a homage to those DOOR Games. It is a text based arena combat simulator. Some of the stuff in it is based on D&D and other stuff was my own doing.
NOTE: This is a keyboard driven game. The mouse is only used to select the input field to enter your name.
NOTE2: A WebGL version is in the works as are MAC and Linux. I will remove this message when they are uploaded
Inside the game there are Instructions which I call tips. Here I wanted to present you with more of those tips.
1. The armor class (AC) system is not based on D&D. You start out wearing Rags which has an AC of 0, so this mean you will get hit a lot and you may die a lot too. The AC System is simple the higher your AC the less you'll get hit.
2. The entire game and fake BBS are written from the perspective of some who is really putting up a new BBS, which is why the Instructions in game refer to later updates.
3. I recommend when you get enough money that you purchase armor first, Heavy Robes have an AC of 8, while it since great it should keep you alive longer.
3. .50% of your strength is used in the calculation of damage, both regular and critical.
4. .50% of your dexterity is used in the calculation to see whether the monster hits you.
5. Both of these stats can be increased with potions.
6. I say it in the Instructions and I want to repeat it here. When your character dies it will be deleted and you will have to create another one.
I hope you all enjoy this glimpse into the past of a game from a bygone era. I truly had fun creating it and while I know it can be frustrating at times I hope you all have fun playing it.

Would have appreciated a bit more interaction with the game (block, or a different kind of attack), so it doesn't play itself for the most part.
Still I had quite a bit fun with it and felt reminded of other old games. (especially the owlbear triggered some roleplaying memories ^^)
