Immune Invasion by Chong Lee

[raw]
made by Chong Lee for LD 40 (COMPO)

Hey! This is my first ever Ludum Dare (not my first ever game jam tho) entry and I'm quite happy how the project turned out!

In immune invasion you take the role of three white blood cells and your sole quest is to rid the body of harmful bacteria before they swarm the vein and destroy all the important red blood cells! The player is also able to deploy helpful antibodies to stun and hinder the bacteria nearby!

Immune invasion has 3 levels each with their own bacteria type to deal with!

The game is maybe a little hard? I'm not very sure myself.

Overall the weekend was pretty rough but definitely worth it!

Here are some screenshots and a gif! I hope that you enjoy the game as much as I enjoyed making it!

Overall, the game is fun and fits perfectly well with the theme. The controls are a bit hard to get used to imo.

Wow. Just... the presentation, the soundscape, the design, the gameplay... this game feels really nice. It feels extremely satisfying to deploy the antibodies. Also, I am pretty bad at this game ^^

Really nice! I wasn't able to survive for too long, but I really liked the movement and the theme. Sounds and music were nice also.

Cool stuff :)

Interesting idea and well executed. I found it to be very hard though, not that it's a bad thing.

Good job.

Despite the difficulty may be a little too hard, I enjoyed this original approach to the topic! Good job!

This is a lot of fun. it's challenging, mostly until you work out the controls. I found continuously holding the right button (to always be attracting bacteria) and then periodically pressing the left to move around the be very effective. I don't know if the intention is to allow it to work that way but until I did that I couldn't win.

Nice graphics, audio, great fit for the theme. Very well done!

That's exactly the kind of infection game I want to play ! Thank you !
The heart beat effect is really well done. The first few games were tough, but I'll come back to it later and try to finish it.

Very creative, and the mood's very well done. You really feel the pain of being an antibody trying to clean the system! Although one modification I'd recommend would be to have the antibodies always follow the mouse, that way you don't force players to hold down both mouse buttons at all times, which feels uncomfortable. Well, actually... when aren't you holding down both buttons? Seems like no mouse buttons and just have the antibodies follow the mouse and be always active, then switch the spray ability to left mouse button, and vala!

Couldn't get passed level 1. And I thought the games I made were hard :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: It's tough finding a good difficulty balance in just 48hrs...

Sound design and art direction create a strong atmosphere, I do wish more changed as time went on though. After surviving for a while I couldn't feel much motivation to keep going. Sound design and art direction create a strong atmosphere, I do wish more changed as time went on though. Though, I do wonder what the point of having "controls" besides mouse location and the antibodies switch is when all the actions the player can take with clicks are actions that they should essentially be executing at all times. I think the overall package is great however, and the work you put in shows!

Hey hey, a kindred spirit with a microbial/biological theme.
Great atmosphere. As you mentioned, -really- difficult, but the gameplay is sound, and I enjoyed myself a lot.

Great job, I like this ideal. The gameplay is also enjoyable. Could be a nice releasing game in store after more polish.

Very well done! Especially the atmosphere. It did get a little repetitive once I figured out how to survive.

The game is pretty good, it is very hard for me but that can be fixed with balancing. the art and animation was done very well

Interesting idea I must say. I thought you would change the layout of the different stages but instead you changed the virus we have to fight, very clever. Also them having different "attributes" was really cool. The purple ones seemed to clinge to the walls while the last bacteria was sliding through the blood cells.

Really liked it, Good job!

very creative, very beautiful, the heartbeat is very well done, the game is difficult but doable. I feel I won mostly because of luck with the random numbers rather than because of my own skill. Had to give top marks except for humor :)

I wanna know if ANYONE has beaten it. Might be a little off balance. But this a really cool idea, you could even flip it and be the virus. The antibodies didn't seem to help me, while it stunned the infectors it stunned my ability to absorb them, i think. Beautiful work, artistically and sonically. Congratulations!
