Journey to the unknown by Dev Dennis

[raw]
made by Dev Dennis for LD 44 (COMPO)

You play as a guy, who dies and goes to a place inbetween life and death.

It was fun to make, especially the music. I think I created a very moody game. It's a bit short though.

The idea is that your life is going down and you need to keep collecting life to move forward.

A - D: Movement

Space: Jump

You can also use a controller.

Tools

Made in Unity with Playmaker

Photoshop for graphics

Garage Band for music

The character control is a bit weird, some clumsiness fits the dreamy mood, but the acceleration in the middle of jump phase, while already being in the air.. I cannot see reason for it. Still the whole rest is impressive, mood indeed really well built, art and music shining.

@onnofal Yeah I agree, I guess I ended up being blind on the game mechanics, I did work a lot on the jump but I totally agree, it's not there yet. The jump is made with a float that is set by a curve over time, to mimic a jump curve like you would have in animation, but I guess it failed :)

Thank you for the kind words. I love penguins, so I will give your game a go later ;)

Nice graphics and sounds, I liked it. Just interesting, what is a second door with grass and etc? Would be great to have a possibility to change my mind without the full replay.

Graphics are stunning, really beautiful mood. Movement felt a little loose to me, but overall a great entry :)

Wow, really liked the mood with the music and the little audio effects. Loved the little wobble in the character's hair, really cute! Well made!
