Ardis Mobile Mission by Franklins Ghost

You're mobile has a battery issue where it keeps running out rapidly.
Try finding the necessary information before the time runs out. Recharge always an option.
Lots of little bugs and fixes I still want to do but will try and do it over the weekend. Want to add a quick restart button cause currently the time runs out really quickly. Also want to add more with the camera and the little mini game that is there.
Have updated link with an alternate post Jam version that has lots of little tweaks and the actual battery running out transition I wanted.

Only problem is, the battery runs out way to quickly. So it made me instinctively click on everything to get a clue before the battery died again. If I were you I'd set the time to around 2 minutes, for example, so there is time to carefully read and think about what you are reading and where the next clue may be in, instead of creating an urgency that ultimately goes against the content and the "information processing" nature of the intro's premise.
The rest is just so great!
Without the battery issue, this would definitely be my favourite entry for this ludum dare. Great work!
Only thing that bugged me is that the anroid version can't be played in portait mode while the ingame phone clearly is. It'd be nice if the ingame screen covers the whole screen on mobile. :)
Hope you can't beat the game just by pushing all the buttons in every app.
And yeah, art is AWESOME. Thanks for the game!
__ + __ Graphics, Art

** What imo could be improved **
__ - __ What could be a good exploration game turn into a skilled timed precision game I could not play good enough
** Overall **
Very good entry, one of the best I've played so far and it was not even the post-jam version. The idea is good and the realisation is even better. I bet the post-jam version fix the balancing of the game and allow a proper restart. Refreshing experience, thanks for the game !
Edit : Wow, the animated outro is just freaking good :D Nice job !
Tried the jam version and had quite some issues with it! Thanks for the fixes you made in the post-jam version (aspect ratio, etc).
I agree with the above comment that the little mini-world you've set up to explore is packed with interesting stuff but I'm betting most of it is lost to your players because of the nagging time limit. I honestly feel like throwing away the entire "running out of power" element might have made for a more enjoyable experience, though I guess different.
Wish that the phone would have charged faster.....hah, I guess that's realistic though. WTB usb-c charging...
The rating I give you is based on the LD version.
I really like the concept and gameplay here, it's very interesting to play a game about gathering information from your phone. :D
Beautiful game, and interesting story. Great job on your complete game!
Brilliant graphics, audio serviceable. The concept is great too, if only the design didn't have a fatal flaw.
Recharging... Why is recharging a possibility? While the phone is recharging there is nothing to do. The battery runs out in mere 35 seconds while it takes a full minute to recharge. This means that on my first playthrough I spent more time looking at the recharging phone doing nothing, than actually hunting for information. That is boring, lame and dreadful design.
Here's what I would have done, just for perspective. There is no charger, the battery has about 4 minutes of juice left after which the character has to leave (for some reason). Find the answers quick! Once the time is up there is an epilogue. Here the information found affects the rest of the character's life in all sorts of ways.
For instance: if you found 0 pieces of information the character misses the party, becomes a social outcast and ends up in a crappy job; if you only found out about the party, then the character makes a fool of himself loosing his confidence causing some terrible things to happen in the future; if you do manage to find all the data then everything is all sunshine and happiness. You'd get to do a bit of writing is what I'm going at. Maybe that is not your thing, it's fine.
Currently what you have is *puzzle* / *dexterity challenge*, the world is full of these. Shifting the focus to finding information to cause different outcomes would make this into more of a *digital experience* / *interactive short story*. I'd prefer that at least.
Ok work. I have high hopes, is all.
In the jam version the battery is a little to fast.
Graphics are really great, the idea of the game is super fun, and it plays great. I wish there was an ending, and more time to figure stuff up because in the state it was in, it was mostly a die and retry until you've memorised everything.
But yeah, fantastic work! Congrats~
Overall nice work!
