Top Tips on "Partner Satisfaction"
Feed that cat every day, store away small items, unpack packages and recycle the empty box!

_ [Known bugs: One known bug - on Web Gl the frame drops can cause large velocity spikes for the player or large items when pushing them - if it happens often, please use to the Windows build] _
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^POST-JAM VERSION NOW AVAILABLE^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ##
Post jam version has now been implemented. The features added are tagged in the game description below.
How it works
You and your partner have just moved to a new home. Your partner works and you look after the house (and the cat). Your partner develops a bad shopping habit. Every day you received MORE STUFF for your new home. You must store and organise your ever growing hoard of possessions so that you do not run out of living space.
Newly married, it is important to maintain a strong relationship! Every morning you partner will ask you to fetch one of the items they have previously bought - so you better hope you can find it [POST-JAM]! Your relationship will weaken if:
- You don't store clutter in storage
- You don't unpack packages
- You don't recycle old packages
- You don't feed the cat
- You cannot find an item your partner has asked you for [POST-JAM]
- You have sold an item your partner asks for [POST-JAM]
- You get caught selling items [POST-JAM]

Soon enough, you will run out of space in your house. Fortunately you are able to gather wood from your backyard and build storage for your house [POST-JAM]. If you manage to save enough money, you can build extensions to your house too [POST-JAM]. You can earn additional money through selling items [POST-JAM], though this could affect your relationship strength.
Can you keep up with your partners need for STUFF? Can you maintain enough living space for your relationship to blossom? Oh, and don’t forget to feed your cat.

* Developers notes regarding JAM version: * For the Jam, I was not able to implement all the features I had planned (hence all the "POST JAM" tags above). To give you an idea of what the game WOULD have had in it, should I had time: - You partner would ask you to find an item for them every morning to earn relationship strength points - The mail-person would deliver packages during the day that your partner had ordered online - You could sell items to make space and earn money, though you risk upsetting your partner doing so - You can gather wood to build more storage for your house - You can spend money to purchase house extensions so you don't run out of space.
Because I couldn't implement them, the following has been configured in the game: - 4 storage items exist in your home for free at the start of the game - You automatically own all house extensions
* UPDATE: I have now implemented the above and the POST-JAM version is available to play. Please report any bugs you find, and enjoy! *

I know you put a lot of work in the pixel art, and I totally love how it turned out!
The music is great and I had a great laugh when I read the dialogs.
Sadly my partner seems to want to leave me, because I am apparently not good enough. Although I think I'm pretty good:

With some practise in the sunglasses game, I might be able to score a new partner that _does_ respect my cleaning endeavours.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong to earn 0% satisfaction.
Nonetheless, I really enjoyed playing. The lower satisfaction ratings kept me sharp and stimulated me to do better. I felt like I had enough to do with current functionality. And I lost track of time for a bit. Great work, keep it up!
The entry was incredibly clean and I liked it. Aligning the boxes to a grid might have made everything a little easier to push around, but I think you intended the difficulty to be part of the game. Things can get pretty frantic.
@julia-lundman that bug has been fixed now. I am very sorry it affected your game play. When it said "Ive been thinking - you were going to get the ending script. So you were playing it right. The packages each day increase. Day 1 you get 1... by day 4 you'll get 2 a day... 8 will be 3 a day.. an so on. Thanks for writing such a detailed review. The satisfaction is based on the state of the house, not especially how much you've done - so if you try real hard but still have some things left.. it'll still annoy your partner. The cat is HIGH priority.
@swen has been balanced a bit now, 9 extra seconds a day .. but not sure if it'll be enough for you! All I'll say is the cat plays a big role <3 Oh - and if I saw you do such moves with 3 boxes... I'd be down on one knee.
@mateusboga yeah, I considered a check-list of things to do, but no time and also it may remove the "mystery" behind the satisfaction score.
@aterlamia cutting real life themes presented with cutesy pixels and chirpy music... :D no one will hear you cry.
@minibobbo thanks bud <3 Yeah there isn't much "skills" to the game other than memory so thats why I kept the box movement stuff tricky. Dragging it can give you more control sometimes. Thanks for playing.
@nam-nguyen appreciate the words - I am aware this entry wont compete in terms of rankings, but want people to see the concept and laugh a little <3
@iballs and the cat loved you.
After seeing your last post and watching your demonstration video, I came back to play the new version.
And I'm glad to say: I was not disappointed! I had a very fun time playing the new version. It does get easy after you've cleaned up the initial clutter in the house, though.
I understand that the scope was way too large for a jam game, but I absolutely see what you were aiming for, and I am excited to see any further updates! I'm especially excited to see where the organization (of small items) aspect goes.
To be fair, I will be rating this entry on the __1.0.1 version__, as this was the one released on submission day.
_(Also, maybe you should have a download for that version, with the game-breaking bug fixed.)_
Excited to see where this goes!
@lost-dutchman-software nice to see you again, glad you enjoyed!
@noahro ofc you're welcome to rate that. I'll release a proper post jam version in a week or so. The game breaking bug occured 100% of the time, meaning none of the dialog would work, the days wouldnt pass, the deliveries wouldn't come, the recycling wouldn't be taken away, etc. The bug caused a nasty knock on effect, but its what I get for leaving the coding until day 3! When fixing it, I did add some things to make it more clear - like the recycle bins so it was more clear where to place the bins, and covered up the UI elements that were not active, and added the how to play dialog and player select since it was done and not hooked up (tbh it just sets a sprite based on which button you press). Thanks for checking it out again, appreciated.
5 stars humor!

I actually got stuck at the door with all the packages. An intended difficulty? :D
For a more serious feedback, I was pretty much reminded of a directly controlled version of Sims.
The art style is so cute, I especially like the orange cat since we have one at home that pretty much looks like that. I can really imagine this to be a casual mobile game. Well done!
So here is my feedback on your game.
First, I like the idea, of organizing home and cleaning (even if I'm terrible at it, even in real life), and the interface is pretty clear ! Music was super nice and fit the game very well !
However, controls are really difficult, I think there are way too many buttons (Shift / E / Spacebar / Mouse click), it's hard to hold shift while moving with WASD when you grab an object, having to switch between keyboard and mouse is also a bit annoying. The entry door is too small for me, it gets hard to pull or push things in/out.
Also I needed to play the game 3 times to get what I was asked for, because darling was coming back home way too early the first times since I had to discover the game, the house set up and so on, so it would be great to have a bit more timeslot for the first days in order to understand all of this.
And in its current state, the game becomes repetitive quite fast, let's see the post jam version, it should bring I guess more diversity
Unfortunately i was a very bad organizer (as i always am in real life haha) and the only one which didn't left me was the cat, good cat haha
The music also gave me a very nice feeling, it reminded me of those harvest moon games from game boy advance, very good!
The graphics also matched very well the game, simple but fantastic!
I saw that the game isn't finished yet, since you put "coming soon" about some subjects, and in my opinion when you finish it, it will be even better, so keep working on it, good job! ;)
It even has an options menu! Wow. Very polished!
The character moved a little too quickly for me to really get anything done in the fairly short timeframe. But it looks like a really good game!
@colin-doody Thank you for taking the time to play it.
@apples-mmmmmmmm Thanks for reporting that bug. Yes my pause sets my state machine back to "PLAY" instead of "IN_DIALOG", I'll add something in to cache the "previous state" instead of just defaulting back to play. The aiming interaction is a problem. I was going to add sprites for different directions to help, but time. I'll do so eventually, or a small directional arrow. See below about controls, but also - really tried interact and pickup small item on same button, but there would exist some scenarios where it is highly frustrating as you cant pick something up (if surrounded by iteractable items for example, or wanting to drop something close to a storage unit so you can locate a specific item). I'll consider adding that white border trim to the edges of the UI bars. Thanks for feedback.
@xarras the game is meant to push some real themes in a disguised way. but for more help on satisfaction levels, check the info on satisfaction at the bottom of this post.
@merpader I knew some would appreciate the silliness! <3 wish I had more time to make a load more items.
@frittatenbank that picture's hilarious! did you try using the drag mechanic? You can actually move all directions while dragging, so can navigate boxes a lot more accurately. Regarding the satisfaction issues, check the info on satisfaction at the bottom of this post.
**CONTROLS**: Yes, I agree. Before there was a button for dropping small item too :D It could have been worse haha! I spent some time yesterday working out new controls. I have decided on WASD still, E for drop/pickup small item, Space for dragging. Then clicking I've implemented it so you click on the interactive objects to interact with them (cat, storage, package). This makes sense because for package and storage you need mouse to click to remove / place items anyway. It still doesnt feel great but it feels better - brain remembers clicking is different to keyboard press, I believe.
**SATISFACTION**: Many complain they work hard and get 0% satisfaction score still. This is reasonable. Your partner is judging the state of the house and the tasks you should have done to keep it tidy. At the beginning, there is too much for you to clear up. Logic doesnt matter, your partner returns and sees a mess and isn't happy. But over a few days you should be able to get most of the mess under control - then providing you keep the cat fed, you will start hitting those higher numbers. Remember: Cat > Unpack packages > Small items in storage > Recycle old packages.
@rebelloeric there's a reason there's so many people with cats... :D The game play isn't right atm as most of the features I couldnt get in. It is hard atm, but that's because it gives the game some replay-ability as you realise the things you need to do to earn your partners satisfaction. Thanks for trying and reviewing :)
@echo-team the feelz indeed. is it obvious I've recently separated from a partner!??!?! :D regarding time - yes I set it to be fast. I wanted it that way, as it was the only way to add some "challenge" and "learning " to the game, an adds that pressure and lets your house "run out of space". Won't be that way in the "final" version I hope to create some day.
I see a lot of potential in it and I really hope you continue working on it to add the coming soon features and much more. In my opinion, this game really excelled in the fun and graphics category.
Great job :)
Wish you the best and always follow your heart no matter what.
Controls were a bit not intuitive as I needed to stop pressing one key for another to work, but I guess you know that already :)
It was a cute experience, with lots of work in the design. I can say that there is a nice content in your game even if the gameplay gets a bit cut off.
Nicely done !

Good ideas and execution. Glad you are working on it further :)
The game does get a little repetitive, but it's still very entertaining. The first couple of days are pretty hectic, but your partner's comments are so funny that I didn't even mind not doing very well. In fact, the game as a whole is very amusing - why does your partner want you to show her your Book of Lust just as she's about to head off to work? One can only imagine...
I love the character customisation (especially the ability to be in a same-sex relationship), and the ability to purchase more space to deal with the "running out of space" aspect. The graphics are good, and the music is a nice little background loop that doesn't get annoying. Good job!
