Game Information

[MORE IMPORTANT INFO BELOW THIS IMAGE, READ CAREFULLY!] Unity<em>2018-04-22</em>22-58-24.png

Time

Time is VERY important in this game, since you only have until the end of Day 3 to complete your objective, you must be very careful and quick.

Power System + PowerBox Mini-Game

The powerbox is located next to the newspapers, it has a green light when its on, and a red light when its off. When the power goes out, you will have to do a mini-game to turn it back on. In this mini-game you must type the code you see on screen EXACTLY as you see it. When the power is out, you cannot use the computer. You will lose a lot of time if you aren't quick!

Compile Error Mini-Game

The Compile Errors show as Dark Green in the Compile Error Minigame, click the X next to all the dark green "code". This mini-game happens randomly when cracking a hash, be quick! You have a very small amount of time to complete it! Losing this mini-game will cause you to lose 4 hours.

Cracking a Hash

If a crack "fails", you either typed the hash wrong, OR that was a fake hash and not one of the real ones. the strings of random numbers & letters are the hashes, You want to crack these. example hash: 77gh46f this means nothing, but in the computer if you type "crack HASH" it will crack it, revealing its real value, replace HASH with the random string of numbers & letters, this example you'd type: "crack 77gh46f"

Hash info and the Code List

an actual hash & it's actual value will be added to the code list once you crack it(The code list shows only when you're in the Computer or Safe menu, it's at the bottom left of the screen and will display all the hashes you have found along with their actual value), once you get them all, put them together to open the safe using the 4-digit code you got. they are formatted like this in the code list:

ORDERNUMBER - HASH - ACTUALVALUE

The Database hash will show the same way once you find the notepad that has the hash on it, except it will be slightly different;

DB - HASH (example: DB - y675hgghf)

then, once you crack it, it will show like;

DB - HASH - ACTUALPASSWORD (example: DB - y675hgghf - Password123)

Example Hashes

(the database hash DOES NOT count towards the safe, that's only to login to the database to get the hashes for the safe)

1 - 86ht6f3 - 3

4 - 88gh5fs - 1

2 - 7gns43f - 6

3 - 90ng6sf - 0

you'd put these together by their ORDERNUMBER, so this example would be: 3601 to unlock the safe

Sorry for such a long description, I didn't have time to implement a tutorial into the game, so I used the description to explain everything you should know about the game. Enjoy!!

Hi @steel-dev as you use Unity, you could generate a WebGL build and upload it to itch.io to make the game playable in a browser :video_game:

It took me a bit to figure things out, but the game's really well made and the music goes really well with the game (it never really got to the point where it felt repetitive). Adding the time constraint and power failures was a neat touch.

Wow ! The concept is really nice ! I love this kind of game, where you have to use your brain to get the key. The programming here was well injected in the game. The first power outage surprised me a lot, took me a while to figure out what I had to do, but, pretty nice, well done :smile:

Hi @steel-dev, first thank you for the Web GL build :thumbsup: Good concept, cool graphics and great ambiance, controls could be a bit improved to make the game totally playable with the keyboard, the terminal could be a bit more realist using a different font, and maybe adding a sound when typing keys. Congratz & keep up the good work :rocket:

No problem! thanks @nidup ! the typing sound effects were 100% planned but I never got to it due to having to fix bugs, I did also plan on polishing the terminal and such but ran out of time :P Thanks for your feedback! and thanks for playing :)

Whew, that was intense. I ended up dying to the boss with him at like 15 health because I had ran out of heals. Well done. A few notes: The navigation of the player through the room was a little tricky. I had to retry a couple of times and it got a bit tedious typing the same power-on sequence. It would have also been nice to see in the database list which hashes I had already tried. I think I ended up cracking the same codes a few times because I couldn't remember where I left off. Overall though, this is a solid entry. Nice work!

Oh my... James' gone done it again ! Great Jobs all around, you really should do an epic rif as your Twitch follow alert from now on. Aside from that, the game is really fun and enjoyable, one of the better jam games I have come across today :) Thank you ! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/bumper-buddies

Good Escape room, I didn't escape, and I want to come back to it so I'll save it for later, however I got really annoyed at the way you showed the user how to enter the hashes and passwords, <HASH>, I ended up entering '<value of hash>' over and over, and was asking why it kept failing, so that was confusing. Also after I did end up figuring it out, for some reason I couldn't get the password to work... Then after I managed to get past that point my next playthrough, I couldn't get past the password hashes, as I was unsure of whether to type the entire thing, or if it's just one of those hashes, and if it's either of those, that's annoying... Also, there's a definite bug after you get the password, if you go look at the note again, it removes the password from your codes. Anways good game! It's neat to see another Escape Room genre game in here! ;)

This was a really interesting idea! I liked the gameplay, though I did find some frustrations. I think that time moves too quickly or that you don't have enough days. It takes a while to figure out what you need to do, even after reading all of the instructions and your description. I think having additional tasks and letting you enter a command to mass-crack the passwords would be nice, as it took me 2 days alone just to crack them. The special twist at the end was cool and overall I thought the project was very creative, fun, and well done!

@PatrickRMC I explained in the games description what to do :D Click the X next to the "Code" with Dark Green text :) I would've put a tutorial in the game that would explain everything further but, no time sadly D: The difficulty was intentional; I find difficulty fun, a nice challenge >:D but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@Steel_Dev Took me around 3 times to actually read the minigame and figure out which to click X in xD
